That is incredible staying power, especially given most of bought (up a dozen) copies in the first week. So who's still buying it? Christmas present for grandpa?

Could someone explain why anyone would want to buy so many editions of the same album? I don't mean with this live cd, but people buying up to a dozen versions of the same original HD album. It's like a mania or an obsession and I just can't understand it. Can't these consumers see they're being played like a violin?

My children have seen the Stones in Twickenham (age 8 and 6) and last year in Hyde Park (aged 12 and 8). They loved it, and brag about it when given the chance.

I've been revisiting the incredible FFSO tonight, I hadn't heard it for 3 years. I remember a South American YouTuber had organised the tracks by decade, so useful compared to the random order on the 'main' release. But, despite plenty of googling, I can't find that guy/channel/playlist. Can anyone throw me a bone on a Friday Night? Thanks! (I love the 19

Does anyone think Keith would be capable of playing more than, say 2 new songs a night?

That would depend on how much you believe the 'spontaneously dropped in' story...

Where did you hear the alternative version? QuotePalace Revolution 2000 I just got done listening to the alternate version; all early or alternate mixes. Just lightyears better and tougher than the official. Whoever threw the blanket over the mix/mastering desk in Munich did this album in. GHS has received much late acclaim, and IORR would have kept the big run going.

I'm not sure why some keep suggesting that that this album is 'three chord music', as one of the great strengths of the writing on this collection is that it pushes and crafts the songs a lot more than lately - with interesting changes for bridges, and some rather unexpected chord progressions (by 'recent' Stones standards).

I wouldn't believe that they didn't select the very best Tues for HD, and are saving some for a next album. I'm sure they would have given their absolute all to make the song selection on HD the very best of what they had. That being said, it is encouraging if Watt also produced the other tracks that didn't make it to HD, as he seemed to get the band working (and sounding)

This is one of the tracks on the album that I can't really get into. It sounds rather forced to my ears, and I'm never really a fan of f-bombs in music - especially from as cunning a linguist as Sir Mick.

By the way, does anyone know if the other songs recorded recently (the 'nearly finished' next album) were also produced by Watt?

Hard to take what you say, KeefRiffHards, without a very large pinch of salt. Given your endless negative comments in the start of this thread that rather swiftly became positive admiration. But, I guess trolls gotta troll

Mick mentioned in one of the recent interviews (or perhaps in was an Andrew Watt one referencing Jags) that he did, indeed, dial down some of his vocal takes - try to make them more lazy or throwaway. I can't remember the exact phrase, but it suggested he was trying to calm some of his over-enunciating / power-singing tendencies.

"she's there when I close my eyes... There whe. I close my eyes" Wonderful bridge in a fantastic song on a splendid album.

Haha! Yes, I'm just kidding really, just that I understand I appear to be the only one here who isn't blown away those last two tracks on the album.

Absolutely, MMM, this track is clearly a 'Keith track' - yet it sounds great with Mick singing (his languid phrasing is perfect) and I just love hearing Keith's subtle back ups on so many of the lines. At first I thought this track was a little 'Stones by numbers' but I realised that it's one of the things they do fabulously (Tumbling Dice, Crazy Mama etc have th

You're all going to kill me, but this is one track on the album that I haven't listened to more than twice. I love most of the album, but just not too interested in hearing this kind of thing... Perhaps I'm crazy, because the other track on HD that I don't care for, and haven't listed to more than a couple of times is the near-unanimous favourite SSofH... Just too bo

Hey, Hardriffin, is this your work (removing the vox, I mean). Could you do the reverse - extract and give us only the vox? I absolutely love this track, and in particular, Keith's harmonies with Mick. Just beautiful, and I'd love to hear it acapella.

Agreed. For a man as erudite and sophisticated at Mr J, it is rather pathetic.
