anyone else on this board collect music action figures?...maybe us old timers who built models in the 60's have a certain passion for these things...I miss Tower Records & Virgin Records for many reasons but I could always count on seeing these 'action figures' on the shelf when I visited...McFarlane Toys came out with some nice figures of AC/DC, Alice Cooper,Hendrix,Slash,Jopl

hbwriter..I was also at this show last night...do you have a list of all the RJ songs they played ?...I recognized one of the RJ songs from an early Savoy Brown lp...a great show...I think many fans traveled from far away to catch this show....I also heard from a fan that Todd put this opening act together at the last minute as an opening act was required by contract...regardless of the truth, it

with all due respect to BV, I can't imagine anyone having plans 3-6 months for anything EXCEPT a wedding...I mean, come on...concerts are the only thing these days that advertise so very far in advance....tickets for U2 in SF next June are on sale now...do you have plans for next June ? the only thing preventing any fan from attending a concert these days is a sudden death in the family or s

keefrifhard...thanks for your reply...allow me to be more percise...yes, there are more Walmarts & Targets than BestBuy stores but their music sections are pathetic...there is not even a card slot for the RS at Walmart...their AC/DC promtion was an exception which is why AC/DC went with them...when BestBuy promtoed the POLICE & RS box sets, they played them in the store on every monitor e

I was in Wakiki in 1977 attending the very first GAVIN REPORT convention..I walked by a gallery who had several Jagger/Warhol prints displayed in the window for $1200 each....should have borrowed $$ to buy at least one of them...in 1981 I attended a wedding at the home of the late Bill Graham in Marin...Bill had 3 of them hanging in the living room...one could retire if you happen to own 3 of the

BestBuy is an aggressive marketing machine...they know consumers don't have many options anymore to buy music..no more Tower Records/Virgin Mega-stores etc...if you are "old school", you probably don't like to do ALL your shopping on-line..so they demand 'exclusives' in return for massive advertising campaigns..they want you/us to come into their store knowing that o

I pre-ordered my deluxe edition from Amazon US 2 weeks ago & although they promised deivery by NOv. 5, it arrived today on SF...the box says "Region 1" for those who want to know...although I wanted the super deluxe edition with the vinyl, I knew that this would add greatly to the shipping cost & may even delay the shipping...as anything vinyl related ALWAYS presents problems...

guess I'll have to add my 2 bits here....U2 preceded their ZOO TV tour with 30 indoor arena shows in the USA where they first introduced th b-stage...and was such a great idea as you know...seems quite obvious to me that the RS copied this later....I believe the 'trap door' for the 1st song was shifted to SFTD after the 1st show or very soon afterwards...the 'cage' was in

Bernard will play in San Francisco tomorrow night..FRIDAY at the Rockit Room...a club located in the Richmond district..have no idea what to expect...he appeared tonight at the SFAE for a couple of hours signing his cd..this is the gallery that Ron Wood displays his work..more fans might have shown up but President Obama arrived in SF at the exact same time & all streets were closed off since

Aerosmith cancelled their tour 2 months ago when Tyler fell off the stage & broke his shoulder..surgery may still be needed but he apperas to be fit enough to fulfill these last 4 dates in SF, Hawaii & the middle east which probably offered too much money to cancel...I attended tonight's ORACLE gig held at Treasure Island & Tyler didn't seem to be suffering from his injury..

Just returned from the 1st Berkeley show & Bob was excellent...and those new moves everyone is talking about ?....no doubt in my mind that he's been inspired by Leonard Cohen....if you've ever seen Leonard Cohen in concert, you know exactly what I'm talking about...but this is good...nice to see Bob standing in front of his mic with just his harp & using some body english

good lord....nice to see such a massive database...but I agree that 'live' lp's & compilations should be excluded from this list...although I was stunned to see 'Bloodrock Live' included..LOL..didn't think anyone else knew this record...so let's see an edited list...and then I can just focus on this issue....peter

RE:..footage of Hendrix backstage included on this new box set.....I watched my Criterion version of Gimme Shelter last night with the commentary by the Maysles brothers for the first time...the segment of the band backstage with Ike & Tina was showing and one of the brothers mentioned that Hendrix was backstage as still photographs prove..but what puzzeled them was that they didn't have

Is this new DVD worth it ?....you be the judge...as I own & just reviewed my Criterion copy & read what is being released by Warner Home video...buy this ONLY if you don't own the Criterion copy...unless you MUST have the 3 extra tracks from MSG & the extended KSAN broadcast...which to me is just not worth it...but for completists, I'm sure there is no argument...the picture

Thank you 'mickschix' for clarifying the Joni Mitchell saga...I have attempted to get all the stories correct from this excellent event for decades...I was standing in front of the stage when Joni said to the crowd, "I just sang that verse twice & no one noticed"...she never finished her set..some said she was in tears..I cannot confirm that but she was certainly not happy

2 weeks before Woodstock, there was a better 3 day festival held in New Jersey...the Atlantic City Pop Festival...only 110,000 over 3 days and no Hendrix or Who but a much better event...Joni Mitchell turned down Woodstock because she hated the massive concert scene she witnessed at the ACPF...anyway, many great stories & photos are available on the web about this excellent festival which hap

I was also at this show on July 4...it was nutz !....we were crushed down in front...I remember the show coming off quite well but it was difficult to enjoy...during "Rocks Off" Mick skipped the middle of the song where he sings real slow...probably wanted to just finish the show & get out of there...it wasn't a plesant scene down front....peter in sf
