QuoteZantiMisfit People have been saying the same thing about tours "not selling" for as long as I can remember--back to '94. Yet they always seem to break all kinds of records and do just fine. No half-empty arenas. Maybe a few less than sold-out stadiums but that's to be expected. They've been in this business for 50 years. I think they know what they're doi

I wanted, desperately, to love this track. But it's so clearly scrapings from the bottom of the Exile barrel, it hurts. Jagger's 2010 vocal histrionics on this are awful. The lyrics are amateurish. There's no hook. It's an embarrassment. I'd give anything if it weren't so.

My copy showed up at the front door two days ago. Simply an amazing book. It is huge, and weighs more than a Volkswagen. A remarkable coffee table book, with gorgeous pix of the young Stones. I am so glad I saw this thread and bought this!

QuoteFrankM Recently while listening to Aftermath I realized how underrated this album is. It seems to be nearly as good or as good as some of the immortal Stones albums. To me it is is probably the fifth best Stones album right behind the big 4 but maybe even as good as Beggar's Banquet imo. Heck, I'll take Aftermath any day of the week vs. SF or EOMS. Top 5? The only album I like

Hot damn, I just saw my Amex card was charged by jokers.de for this book. End price was $133 US....Euros charged was 89.64, which means they charged about 25 Euros for postage/shipping to the U.S. I'm okay with that, this is my favorite photo period for the Stones. Color me happy and excited!

I wrote to Jokers, and asked, in English: I am surprised at the EUR 3,99 Versandkostenpauschale I expected EUR 30! If EUR 3,99 Versandkostenpauschale is an error, please charge the correct cost to me. And I received this reply, which I am having difficulty translating clearly (I'm using an internet translation, but it doesn't work well): vielen Dank für Ihre E-mail.

I loved that tour. I saw 5 shows in 9 days (Charlotte NC, Boston, Hartford), and was enthralled by how well the band performed. Wish they could still do so well today.

I just placed an order (to be shipped to me in the USA). My sister, who speaks German, walked through it with me. The one puzzle to her and me is that we only got charged EUR 3,99 for postage, I was expecting a EUR 30 charge to be added to the bill. We couldn't find any option to correct the postage. Will they automatically charge the EUR 30, or will this mess up the order? I'

QuoteHelterSkelter High and Dry, Believe it or not, in the very "early days", security let you bring in recorders and cameras (still and Super 8 movie) most of the time. (I took a small super 8 into the Stones Forum show but forgot to slip in the little key that removed a certain filter so it made everything too dark for the camera to read). Security stated getting serious after the boo

QuoteHelterSkelter First serious concert a VERY young Helter went to - STONES, 11/8/1969 LA Forum. Somebody snuck in a video recorder/camera and ......... Portions of LITTLE QUEENIE/SATISFACTION Cool! BTW, video recorders and camera were the size of Volkswagens back in those days, how the heck did someone "sneak" one in, and that close to boot?

About 45 minutes or so? Typical, yes, but more

Quotescottkeef Who knows-maybe thats one reason Drake left? I know he left first then Phil and Smitty(this trio actually formed a new band and put out a couple of albums I think.) In fact, that's a key reason why those 3 guys left the band, because they were being shelved in the studio in favor of studio musicians.

QuoteBluzDudeI have always been told that the band never played their own instruments (like several other bands of that era). Please tell me my uninformed friends were wrong! The band played on their early studio albums. However, by 1966, Columbia and producer Terry Melcher were using studio musicians like Ry Cooder, Van Dyke Parks and others for much of the albums and songs. The Raiders, when

I have often wondered if the "M" stood for Maysles... you know the family that taped this tour! No, his name is not Maysles. I've traded with him once or twice, he's a very nice guy who is especially well learned about the intricacies of Stones

Quotebassplayer617Seriously, we do need to de-mythologize the so-called "Brussels" concert from Sept 17, 1973. One quick way to do that is to play the sbd songs that exist from the Brussels late show from Sept. 17, 1973. They sound like s**t, both the sonics, and the band's performance itself.

Quotehbwriter I'd totally forgotten about the cheesy, 1940s-style intro about how recording techniques had improved, making the sounds "as crystal clear as the stars in the eyes of the girl you're dancing with" (or something like that) anyone know the story behind the intro? Just a random act of goofiness? Any more to it? It was the bootlegger's sense of humor. The 4

The w-i-d-e stereo version of Aftermath has a real treat for fans of Charlie and Bill, because when you listen to Flight 505 with just their channel on, it is just them. Pop the CD into your car player and isolate the "Charlie and Bill" channel on this one, it's tons of fun to hear them driving this song!

Outtakes from Exile? Personally, I'd love to hear a full-length "Just Wanna See His Face". Maybe it stinks, or maybe it's fantastic, but the short bit actually included on Exile is my favorite track on the entire album. I'd love to hear more.

Somewhere along the way I read that Jagger was chatting up a prospective one night stand in a bar, intentionally recording it and using the tape on the album. Not sure if that's true, but it would be funny if true.

QuoteHis Majesty There aren't any real brass instruments on this track. Then what are the brass-like instruments that are being played? 1967 was too early for the Stones to be using a synth. I admit I'm puzzled seeing Brian listed as playing brass. I know he was multi-talented on various musical instruments, but I was unaware he could play brass.
