On With The Show: Conversation at the end...

If it's been on here before, sorry.
I was wondering if anyone's been able to isolate that conversation
between what sounds like Jagger and some American (East Coast?) girl
at the tail end of the song where the ragtime/vaudville piano comes in.
Kinda starts where she says "Scotch and soda" and ends with her saying
"I hope this isn't beintg recorded (sic)"
I think it sounds like Jagger. Any ideas?
Been listening to it with headphones a lot lately and sounds interesting.
Any boots that I don't know of give a glimmer?

yeah, my ears hear it as Jagger as well - i don't know anything more about it, though.
(my undercaffeinated memory seems to have it as "bourbon and soda", but anyway!)

It was reported at the time "Satanic Majesties" was released that a couple of the Stones took a tape recorder into a London bar or nightclub and secretly recorded conversations that were later mixed into the recording of "On With The Show".

At that time the Stones were close to the Beatles (met in London clubs, met in the studios, the Stones are mentioned on the "Sgt Pepper" cover and the Beatles are pictured in the 3D cover of "Satanic Majesties",Beatles sang on "We Love You", Brian played on a Beatles track and Jagger sang on the Beatles "All You Need Is Love") and the Beatles were experimenting a lot with tapes and adding taped sounds to their own recodrings. So it is just possible that the idea for the "On With The Show" inserted conversation recordings was picked up from the Beatles.

Somewhere along the way I read that Jagger was chatting up a prospective one night stand in a bar, intentionally recording it and using the tape on the album.

Not sure if that's true, but it would be funny if true.

I doubt its anything other than a gag like the similar ending of GODDESS IN THE DOORWAY when you can hear Mick mumbling the title track in a fake piano bar.

"Look at this tie. I don't believe it. Really! Tell me all this jazz."
It has to be a put-on.

I've always thought that "America Drinks and Goes Home" by the Mothers of Invention might have been the influence for this songs ending.
