I didn't know Oxford maintains such a book. Charlie loved history, collected old books (I identify, my musty old treasures include a 2nd American edition Origin of Species, and a 1st edition 1st printing Adventures of Huckleberry Finn I found a bit trashed out and unrecognized for only $3), and he took pride in his old-school English-ness. I think Charlie would probably be very pleased with

Quoteangieburden Why don't they play Ooh la la any longer? Just curious. Rod performed Ooh-La-La in Jacksonville earlier this year. Reading that got me more interested in his planned tour, to the point that I'm going now. I'm hoping a week from today when his One Last Time, more rock n roll era Rod tour opens in Raleigh, that in addition to Faces era stuff like Maggie May, I W

While many if not most inherited-money billionaires are very private, some even reclusive, there are any number of self-made billionaires in particular who enjoy celebrity and seek each other's company, having a rare experience in common and feeling mutual respect for achieving such levels of material success. Mick has always been, and prides himself on being, the business mogul among the St

I didn't know if I'd see Peach PRC but 2 hrs ago her Sep 29 DC show went on general sale, it's only $33, so I just added that too. I went into 2025 expecting to cut back on concerts... but people I'd like to see again, or for a number of these the first time, just keep popping up in r

Just gave a listen to the BBC 2 interview and read the RadioTimes story... less to hear about his Glastonbury Legend appearance in a few days than because I'm seeing his full 2 hr show (thankfully in relatively more comfort in fairly close-in amphitheater seats) nine days later in Raleigh, the opening of his N. American tour. Those were interesting reports. I honestly haven't followe

Nothing for the whole month of June, but overall this has turned into my most concert-heavy year ever. (Keeping a full year list going, 3 pgs back.) Nearly everybody with a pulse seems to be out touring, ticket prices being their highest ever. * Jul 8, 2025 - Rod Stewart "One Last Time" Tour/Cheap Trick - Raleigh NC * Jul 19, 2025 - Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit - Richmond * Ju

Erwin, I still think that if you could find an avenue to get it into Thomas Tull's hands, there'd be a decent chance he'd be interested in making a project out of it. I doubt there's a billionaire in the world more passionate about the Stones than him, and if he found it interesting as a project he wouldn't care about expense, he'd just put people on it and order it

As a '72 tour veteran I still have hope that somebody with the resources to will work with Erwin and turn his labor of love into the basis for a formally published book. A lot of licensing for copyrighted content will need to be obtained, but enjoyment of this prodigious body of work should not be limited to a few hundred of us.

I thought he wouldn't be performing any Heads music, but just checked a Utopia setlist and see that he did in that show. So seeing him Oct 14 in Richmond. It's becoming be an ex-Heads themed year. In addition to seeing Jerry Harrison host Stop Making Sense in Sep, I'm now hoping to also see him next month with Adrian Belew performing Remain in Light in its entirety.

Quotebye bye johnny That "headline" is wrong. Rod cancelled 4 upcoming shows and rescheduled two others. The remaining dates of the tour have not been cancelled. It's wrong in multiple ways: since when is an ongoing Vegas residency a "tour"? This month's Nevada shows Rod doesn't even list as part of the upcoming tour, which starts July 8 in Raleigh. So far

QuoteTopi Well, at least the George Theiss funeral seems to be over! George Theiss finally gets to rest in peace, and Land of Hopes and Dreams is back, not just as a great song but as a theme, so it should stick in the setlist for a while. A win-win.

Fontaines D.C. May 11, 2025 in Norfolk VA This is on short notice; when the tickets went on sale in November the 1,500 cap GA venue, the Norva, sold out quickly, and not being a fan of their new album I wasn't interested in paying scalpers' prices. However some resellers apparently didn't get their asking prices and are dumping a few at the original $38 face price... so, okay th

My single favorite Nicky Hopkins bit on a Stones track might be the rollicking roadhouse key-pounding he did on You Ought to See Her Ass. Which, I hasten to add, I might never have known existed if not for IORR, so thank you again, Bjornulf, for this site.

While I've listened to his music for a good while, last night in The Anthem in DC was my first Nick Cave concert, and I agree, his live performances elevate his already dramatically powerful music to a higher level. I'm really impressed by his staging and audience interaction style. For a performer with the nerve and the energy, the "barricade" for the GA floor crowd being

Quotebye bye johnny I'm glad to see Wolf Alice gets a respectable billing by Glasto. They're a great young (debut album was 2015) guitar rock band I highly recommend. Ellie Joff Joel & Theo remain underappreciated over here in the states, however, IDK why. Their low profile here has meant I've had an easy time seeing them 4X, though, so there is that. _________

I love Buddy Holly's great rockers... why would anybody not? But find almost all of his ballads insufferably saccharine and never play them. The most offbeat rock n roll historical items I own are two... or is it three? (I forget where I have them)... 1957 and 1958 Billboard magazines that his father owned. Mr. Holley (with an "e") of Lubbock as I understand it was very skep

Interesting read. I knew Bill and Charlie were close, and both are English homebodies, and sort of eccentric collector types with interests in history and cool old stuff. Which I appreciate, I have antique books and ancient coins and odds and ends myself. I didn't know that Charlie moseyed over to Bill's place that frequently for all those years, though. That has to make them the tig

If old IORR can't be incorporated into a new platform for IORR, and any new IORR will start from scratch, that's not ideal, but okay, if it's that or no IORR at all. But if that happens we do need to turn this IORR into a read-only archive, inactive but for browse, search, open and read functions. Allow sweep-and-copy too of course.
