so so sad, he seemed like a genuinely good hearted person. he did a lot of anonymous charity work bc he didn't want a media circus around it and was one of the first and most important openly gay ppl in show business, he paved a way for everyone in the lgbtq community during a time when closet doors were locked from the outside. it's heart breaking.

Quoteumakmehrd Quotestanlove Quoteduke richardson e never does he fail to remind everyone that Keith and Mick had nothing to do with starting the Stones. r. I never get why people care who started the Stones. The Stones are what they are because of Jagger and Richards period. Jones is only remembered because he started a band that had Jagger and Richards in it. Well said.... ………… are

Thank you! The previous thread about the Orlando-shooting was really toxic and made me quite uncomfortable, this is such a better way to approach and discuss this matter. I too give all my sympathies to all those who were killed or are going to be affected by this in one way or another.

QuotePalace Revolution 2000 In bands there are the songwriters, and there's the players. Both sides are equally important to the band, and to each other. A great song needs a good band to interpret it, to perform it; and the better the players are, the better the song will become. Brian was as much a victim of his time as anything. They were very young; they were in an insanely busy and hec

Quote24FPS Of course Brian was a trained musician. His mother was a friggin' piano teacher, and his dad played organ in the choir. Bill took piano lessons for a couple years when he was young, and Bill played synthesizer on a few Stones recordings. Brian had otherworldly talent, and who knows how much of that came from musical training. But he certainly could do things the others couldn&

Quotejlowe QuoteBliss I would say that 3.5 pints of beer is an excessive amount. Well, he would have certainly fail any breathalyser test. An often overlooked and unexplained question is the large trace of an "amphetamine type drug" found in Brian's system. Nine times the "usual" amount. Even by rock star standards that's pretty excessive. Hence the drink and

Quotetonterapi QuoteMathijs Did I miss any instrument? Reportedly the Stones have various warehouses and storage rooms all over the world where they keep piles and piles of equipment and instruments, and they are also know for giving away much when they are not interested in them anymore. Mathijs Edit: from another post I understand the Cleveland Hall of Fame museum has a Bijou that '

Quotewonderboy annajulia, just knowing what I do about addiction, if he was drinking and taking pills then he absolutely did not have his act together. If an addict is using (especially mixing all kinds of things) then he is abusing. Compound that with the fact he was hanging around with lowlifes and you had a recipe for disaster. Fwiw, I believe Keith could just as easily have died of some kin

Quotewonderboy That's a spot-on, fair assessment of him, imo. He seemed to me like one of those addicts who was never going to recover and unlike Keith he didn't have an instinct for survival and a moral core. And as Mick once said, at the time they just didn't know how to help him. Ugh I hate to be repetitive but I truly do not believe that he was still abusing any drugs when

Quoteannajulia Quoteash Very interesting and very sad. At least five kids (with basically no help for them or their Mums) is beyond an accident. I think it says a lot about his character. If he wasn't in the Stones I suspect no-one here would think he was anything other than a total shitbag. Though I'm not a fan of Rawlings sensationalist hearsay rubbish, Paul Spendel's more cons

Quotebuttons67 always difficult to compare era,s but i feel the 1963-68 era had something that was lost therafter when brian jones was no longer there. the big 4 albums from 1969-72 are great no doubt and mick taylor dominates these to a large extent, and while its often regarded that taylor was a better guitarist than jones, what cant be forgotten is that brian jones was much more than just

Ah Mick T doesn't live in the UK and wasn't informed of this event, he wrote this on Facebook "My office had to alert the gallery to the fact that I exist. I don't reside in England. All we got is a late reply (only AFTER many fans commented on social media yesterday). The message says that 2 tickets have to be collected before 15:00. They know I live overseas, so this does no

@MisterDDDD Not rubbish. I never said anything about Mick T and Bill being forced out of the band, what I AM saying is that both have been immensely important for the band and isn't getting any credit for it. And what conspiracy theories did I present if I may ask?? And as for Brian, yes the years that he did do drugs and alcohol in excess and spiraled downwards ('65-very early

this is why i can't, and will not until a change happens (which i highly doubt), like and respect especially mick and keith on a personal level, i respect and like them musically and some aspects of their personalities but lets be honest, they've been like this since forever. if they don't like you, you're never going to be acknowledged. i mean this especially applies to brian
