Here's the band I'm playing with called Slippery People. We started out by playing blues and rock covers at our concerts including many Stones songs. Recently, we've moved more into soul, funk and disco covers but Miss You is still a staple at our gigs as it is especially popular with our peers. This is Candi Staton's Young Hearts Run Free recorded during quarantine, mostly

Thank you for another great episode! What I especially like about this shape is when Keith uses it for very rhythmic double stop solos like the one on Locked Away or on Beast Of Burden from the '95 Olympia gig.

Another two great episodes! I especially like how you put the Spanish-style episode together. Hope I didn't come off as a know-it-all with that B7, that wasn't my intention.

I like it. Great guitars, great groove...love Keith's reggae style. And the bridge with that beautiful chord is also great. Only thing I wouldn't need are the Kaleo-like O-o-o-o's.

Has somebody recorded Sing Me Back Home from the Merle Haggard show when it was shown on A&E TV a few days ago? I would be ever so grateful if someone could post it here, I can't watch the show/stream from Europe and I am dying to see the professionally recorded performance.

I wonder whether they used real mics because with 4 iPhone mics this would probably be a mess

The sad thing is they are ALL against the real left...by which I mean the people they (Fox, Cnn, Msnbc) name "communists"...which would actually be the middle of the spectrum in Europe.

I fear that with all those people scheduled it won't be full performances in those two hours. I hope it's not just a greeting message from the Stones in a collage.

Don't think Zoom works for playing together with its latency...guess they'll use a click track or something and record on top of one another... not much different than their recent recording habits ><

Yes! This is a characteristic of his later day recording style, throwing in an acoustic playing some of that stuff here and there. It expands the harmonic soundscape beautifully and he uses it very delicately. If think you even hear some of that in Robbed Blind and Amnesia. Also on electric during live performances he sometimes did some fast Spanish-y runs on Waiting On A Friend, I think...great

You're right, I sort of had Struggle in mind when I wrote my post. That second part of Hold Back where the song is using the descending major scale of G starting from C is definitely a Bm anyways...

So this is a different thing from the instagram/snapchat live streams by artists that One World Together At Home have been posting on youtube? Or can we expect a similar stream from the Stones during the broadcast? I'm hoping for a pre-recorded version of Salt Of The Earth with all of the Stones at their homes using proper mics, a bit like the Playing For A Change videos...but I'll take

Hi Scott, Really enjoying this video series. Great to have a channel focusing on the details of Keith's playing. Keith has a way of implying chords without using the 3rds in order to make them fit into the riffs. That A in Hand of Fate that has already been discussed is one example but also Little T&A doesn't sound to good if one plays the A chord with a third, be it minor or maj

I take back what I wrote in my first post in this threat. That people might now see behind the russophobia, sinophobia and anti-cuban-sentiments. Maybe I should have restricted that hope to Europe. Now that we have got the Republican vs. Democrat thing going there is no safe way out of this. When do people in America realise that their parties are two sides of the same coin? That big business is

Of course, the easy way out of this is to blame communists for the mess that some "developed" countries have with their health systems. Even if the Chinese government tried to block information about the situation (which is not exclusively a communist thing to do, look at Mr.Trump) the real reason for the lack of supplies and the massive inequality between rich and poor/black and white

If anything this virus puts our systems to the test: The EU which should be built on solidarity shows its true face for the second time in 12 years and ought to be reformed if it doesn't want more nations to consider leaving it. If its leadership was democratically elected and the policies were introduced to help the weaker instead of throwing them into dept, we might would have seen re

Has somebody caught this? Did they show both songs Keith played on that night? I'd really like to see this, couldn't stream it from Switzerland. I remember that Sing Me Back Home was quite beautiful and that Reasons To Quit was a bit of a mess

Redhotcarpet, I cannot believe to read this. There is a natural gas-cycle, in which organisms emit CO2 and plants store it (the carbon, that is) and produce oxygen with the help of the sun and water. But a few centuries ago we began to dig up and burn fossile materials and thus emit gases which had been stored in dead plants and organisms (coal, oil and natural gas) for millions of years to keep

Where he once played ghostly slide licks during the intro he is now taking over the right rhythm for that descending line. Brown Sugar in Spielberg is another example where he plays Keith's notes to get him back on track. Nothing earth shattering and I'm not trying to take away anything f

Edit: this is a response to Cooltoplady I'm not saying Keith isn't playing it. I'm just saying Ronnie's backing him up to provide some security where he once played a whole different part to Keith's. Watch the videos from Chicago: And the same thing happens sometimes on Brown Sugar and Before They Make Me Run for example. Ronnie doubling Keith's notes and chords

Ronnie does sometimes play Keith's parts. In one of the Monkey Man versions from this tour he played the descending intro notes behind Keith and I remember him doubling Keith's parts during the Brown Sugar intro in 2017 and those are just two examples. Interesting thoughts, hopkins. I actually belong to that generation that is being spoon-fed that cynical gangster schtick. But I would say most young people get it - it's an artificial image thing like Keith's rockstar attitude. It's just too obvious. The bigger problem with the music industry that the young people are in touch with is this influencer thing. Many of the big stars g

I've got a 1974 one. Middle position with a bit more bridge pickup than neck humbucker dialed in is the 1981 tone. Never going to need another guitar. The neck pickup gives you creamy lead and rhythm tones and the bridge cuts through like a knife through butter. But the nicest tones lie in between, imo.

Rap killed Rock? Well, my observation is that some Hip-hop stuff at the moment is much more rocking, grooving and innovative than Rock, which seems to go through an identity crisis and Greta Van Fleet is the living proof of that.
