Happy Birthday, Mick - the greatest frontman on Earth, to this day! I hope the 80th Anniversary party will match the occasion and that Mick will have at least as much joy as he gives us at a Rolling Stones show!

The heart of the world missed a beat today. I am torn between devastation and an immense gratitude to Charlie Watts for providing the rhythm to much of the soundtrack of my life. It has been a tremendous privilege to see him live on many occasions. I am listening to the Stones as I write this and although I have done this thousands of times before, I am still stunned by what an incredible drumm

I was deeply saddened to learn about John le Carré’s passing. To me, he was by far the preeminent writer of our age – as much in a league of his own as man of letters as the Stones are as a rock band, if not more so. And this coming just a couple of weeks after the greatest football player of our time was laid to rest in the hands of God. A sad year indeed, this almost pushes COVID to the backgro

Quotetoorude The scientific contribution will hopefully be published by July 26th.... Was that meant as a birthday present for Mick? He may not be amused when he sees "his" fly, though I will be looking forward to the publication. I hope you enjoyed the fantastic show in Stuttgart as much as I did!

Thanks for posting this information on IORR. I went to see the Rolling Stoneflies after the Stuttgart concert and indeed thought it was worth it. This interesting collection of fossils is also very nicely presented with good illumination and magnifying glasses over some of the smaller flies. It is placed in a prominent position close to the entrance, with a poster explaining the background and de

First, many many thanks to BV for this fantastic site! It does work great as it is! Still, I have a couple of suggestions, with apologies if those have already been mentioned. 1. Include somewhere, e.g. as a permanent link on the Tell Me Forum a "user guide" about how to make best use of the forum, e.g. how to insert images, videos, make signatures with pictures etc. 2. Quotegimmelittledrink Neuer was probably retailating for the hit on Christian Kramer, which was much worse, by the way. I think there are valid arguments why Neuer's save was not foul play, but retaliation is certainly not one of them. The Kramer scene in my view was a similar situation, a bad clash, but not foul. As it happened, Kramer suffered the bigger injury, but it could also have en

Quotemr_dja Written from "inexperienced American" viewpoint. I think what is bothering me most about "the fouls" is how the players seem to be concentrating on "drawing the foul" more than they are concentrating on playing the game. I'll try to explain... Quotesodapop I prefer the live recordings v. studio versions up until 1981. .... Well, "Love You Live" from 1977 in my view is not a very good live recording, and certainly the best studio albums fall within the pre-1981 period. And I would say that after 1981 there is a fair amount of decent live albums - especially if you include the DVDs from the the 1990 Tour (Terrifying), the L

Quoteduke richardson the live Angies are better than the album..just my opinion.. I can't say that about the couple of "Angies" I've heard on recent tours. They somehow seem to rush through them, as if they are a bit bored. Back in the 70s (e.g. Brussels Affair) - well, that's a different matter of course.

Just some info for those who still don't have a ticket and are not sure whether they want to buy one. I had to sell one ticket on ebay.de and saw that there are currently nearly 1000 offers, most for more than one ticket. Hello everyone! There has recently been talk here about songs that people feel don’t sound as well live as they do on the original albums, e.g. „It’s Only Rock ‘n Roll“ („Angie“ would be another example that to me doesn’t quite work live). But surely the greatest live rock ‘n roll band in the world has managed to get some things to sound better on stage than in the studio. Here are a couple
