I requested this to be released in 2017, maybe someone is actually taking notes from this forum lol. https://iorr.org/talk/read.php?1,2480217,page=1 Great show from the excellent 2002 tour! Who cares about a few mistakes here and there, I'd much rather listen to this inspired and energetic performance than some stiff overrehearsed 1989 show.

Driving Me Too Hard sounds like something Keith would sing. Feels like a slowed down mellow version of "How I Wish".

I think Stevie Young's sloppy playing ruins the overall sound, he's an amateur player compared to Malcom. Just listen to Riff Raff and how he's lagging behind. 2023: 1996:

Funny how these reviewers are calling A Bigger Bang "terrible" and "lukewarm". If Hackney Diamonds was released in 2005, I'm not sure it would've been as well received as A Bigger Bang. Angry and Sweet Sounds of Heaven are decent singles, but I think some fans would've dismissed them as cheesy and mainstream if they were released in 2005.

QuoteRip This BEING NEGATIVE JUST TO BE DIFFERENT OR BE CONTROVERSIAL IS BORING AND A WASTE OF TIME.....SORRY BUT CRITICISM OF WATT IS UNWARRANTED...HE MADE 80 YEAR OLDS SOUND RELEVANT...THEY HAVE A HIT...SO JUST STOP. THANKS. btw here's a great article with A Watt Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I think it's a good song but it's not in my top-100 Stones songs.

Pretty good ballad, bridge feels a bit forced. The instrumental break is the best part. More jamming between guitars and Stevie Wonder would've made the song better I think.

What a bunch of whiners on here who always have to complain about everything. Great interview and it was nice to hear Mick talk about Charlie.

Quotelelandsundries To me, it looks like the verse could be in B or E but the chorus is definitely in E. The Key is B because the intro, verse, guitar solo etc. all uses B as the tonic. There's a key change to E during the chorus, with C#m being the relative minor to E. I suspect Andrew Watt had something to do with creating this fancy chorus. Not my favourite sound for the Stones

The chorus of Angry is a bit unusual for a Stones song with the key change and variation between major and minor. Sounds a bit constructed and more like a Mick solo song. But it's still a nice fresh sound for the Stones... I still prefer the straight forward no excuses choruses of songs like Rough Justice though.

Angry is pretty good, not their best album opener, but I like it better than Sad Sad Sad at least. Rough Justice > Angry Flip The Switch > Angry Love Is Strong > Angry Angry > Sad Sad Sad

The one from Live At The Max is faster and more impressive, but then you don't see his hands so it might be an overdub, but I'm not sure. It's just an open string scale played fast from the high to low e-string and down again, nothing overly complicated.

This bassline reminds me a bit of the "walking through central park" part of Miss You.

Often we only get to hear them play the "easier" and more straight forward songs to play, but I wish they would play more funky groove songs. Back To Zero Suck On the Jugular Too Much Blood Gunface Look What the Cat Dragged In

Finding a sealed Magnetic Video from 1979 is probably very hard. Much harder than finding a sealed vinyl from the same era. VHS tapes were expensive in the late 70's and didn't become mass produced until later on.

One More Shot is the most uninspired song they've released the last 20 years. Sweet Neo Con and Streets of Love are masterpieces in comparison.

Wild Horses sounds pretty good overall, Charlie's drums are crisp and clear, just wish Mick wasn't mixed so upfront.

QuoteVoodooLounge13 I also wonder if this is perhaps a test drive for actual live shows next year as a way to combat periscope and other services, get more people involved in the shows, and make even more money per show……. But let's say they sell their livestream for $20 and 4000 people sign up = $80.000 gross revenue. That's nothing for the Stones. There's much more money to b

Quotehockenheim95 QuoteKingbeebuzz Both Happy and Respectable sound slow to me compared with how they were originally performed live. The Stones used to play songs super fast live in the past. Since 2012 they try to stick more to the tempo of the original recordings which sounds good to me. Although I enjoy the super fast Satisfaction from Salt Lake City 05 too. Probably it was Chuck's d

I get the feeling Mick is giving advice on these mixes, might explain why his vocals are mixed so high. From the trailer this almost sounds like those horrible bootleg IEM recordings with Mick way upfront, not what a rock band should sound like.

They are old now and of course not performing at the same level anymore. I mean if they still want to tour then play some smaller venues and lower the ticket prices. Then we would all known they are doing this for the love of playing and music. Now it just feels like a big money making circus that never wants to stop...

Both Mick and Keith are relying very much on backing musicians these days. Just think about how would Gimme Shelter sound today without the backing vocals? It would be interesting to see a show without any backing musicians, just guitar, bass and drums. Keith and Ronnie would have to step up their rhythm playing and work harder. It would sound rougher but maybe also bring back some life to t

Any professional live act has to be susceptible to criticism. It's not like they're doing these gigs out of charity. They've charged top ticket prices while putting in the least possible effort in terms of setlists and creativity for the last decade. Of course people will have opinions which differs from the "we are so lucky they are still going" narrative. You can enjoy

I think Mick has been struggling this tour, not so much in terms of giving a bad performance, but it definitely has been a challenge for him to perform these shows. He probably lost his voice before the cancelled Amsterdam show, and during soundcheck he realised it was impossible to put on a great show and had to cancel last minute. (Maybe he also had covid). In Lyon he was struggling towa
