STP was a rollicking good ride that makes you feel like you are right in the middle of the chaos and decadence that was the '72 tour. I couldn't put that book down. The next one was trash. I literally threw it away as soon as I finished it. Not sure which I hated more, his factual errors or the continual use of amateurish literary devices like "You make ask yourself dear re

Keith's harmony vocal just takes your breath away on this one.

I thought that parts of the VF article were well written (the comparisons of Sticky Fingers to Steel Wheels comes to mind) and others were lazy and un disciplined. Wouldn't the story have been better (and more true ) if it had included a coda on how the relationship between the two is obviously in a different place now than it was a couple of years ago? Even if the worst parts of the

Patti is just so cool. Honestly think she's even better looking today than when she was a super model in the late 70's.

Always thought it was interesting how some of Keith's best work was on Ronnie's solo albums. His harmony vocal on Breathe On Me almost brings you to tears it's so beautiful. Sure The One You Need is just a great piece of classic rock and roll. He does some great playing on Gimme Some Neck. On a different note, I remember buying the album when it first came out. I wa

Just watched and was surprised at how good it was. Maybe my expectations were too low but she seems really cool. No awkwardness etc. Mick seemed relaxed and fairly real.

Was there any sort of clandestine relationship between them? I thought it was literally a one night stand?

Exciting! May be my favorite Stones era. Mature but still vital.

You're insane Dude. No wigs there. Keith's hat looks like the one he admitted hiding his stash in on the '75 Tour of The Americas.

Keith's hat is awesome. Also love Mick's suit. Good to see the Glimmers riding together!

I always had a hard time getting by Mick's refusal to attempt to sing on sides 1,2, and 4. The mumble/ shout combo was just really bad. The musicianship, however, was awesome. Charlie is amazing. El Mocambo just blew me away. Think back to how "plastic" and cheesy pop music was in 1977 and imagine hearing Mick's harmonica solo on Mannish Boy or Keith ripping it up on Aroun

Even though it's far from the best or best known song on Exile, there's something about the vibe of it that seems to perfectly encapsulate the album. When I think of Exile, this is the first song that jumps to mind. I wonder what kind of stuff Keith and Gram would have collaborated on in the future had Gram lived?

Something about the fact that Keith is holding an apple in that one pic that strikes me as hilarious.

I've posted this before but the phrase I keep coming back to every time I listen to CH is "Free of Expectation. Just a joyful piece of work with no regard for sales or critical reception.

Willie Weeks on bass? Always liked his style. So great on Ronnie's solo stuff in the 70's. I wonder if he was ever considered as Bill's replacement?

I'm going to say "Stripped". The quality of musicianship on that one is amazing. Seems like the band at the amazing apex of ability and maturity. I could listen to the versions of Love in Vain and Wild Horses from that one every day.

May have been mentioned before but "Nothin on Me" is such a cool bookend to Before They Make Me Run. The anger/ fear/ defiance/ resignation of youth in '78 giving way to the wisdom and maturity and cool confidence of '15. When I've thought about the possibility of a new Stones release in recent years, my biggest hope is that they would do something completely free of

I love it. Record of the year so far. It's just so great to hear Keith inspired again. My only "observation" that I almost feel bad making- seems like you can really notice his dentures in the singing. Anyone else notice the "whistling" quality on "s" sounds?

I remember Keith saying something along the lines of "Something tells me this town's gonna be all right...." who was their backing band that night?

That "diary" was a really fun read. Thanks for sharing. I remember some great pictures from their stay at Long View. Keith and Patti on horses, Bobby Keys out in the pasture etc. Would love to see the Stones do a 2 month stay somewhere like that now and see if there's any possibility of producing some good new music.

I posted this in another thread a while back, but I wonder if Ronnie Lane had remained healthy, would he have been a candidate to replace Wyman in the Stones? Something about a touring unit of Mick, Keith, Charlie, Woody, Lane, Mac and Bobby Keys just makes me smile.

Was talking about this w a friend the other day and wondered if we had it right? Mick- London, Loire Valley, Mustique, Paris Keith- Connecticut (Think he calls it "Camelot Cost A Lot"), 2 places in NYC, Turks & Caicos, Jamaica, Redlands Charlie- Somewhere in the English countryside, anywhere else? Ronnie- London and Barcelona? Did he sell the place in Ireland? Than

Good question about Drayton. What did he and Jordan fall out over? I wonder who the primary bass player is on this album? If Keith does do some gigs, I'd love to see Joey Spampinato join. I thought he was great on the Chuck Berry project and then again on Could Have Stood You Up. Tony Scherr also sounded great on the Aaron Neville album that Keith produced so maybe he would get a

It's really funny to think that Ronnie was originally hired much more due to his personality than his playing. He's so friggin good now it's impossible to imagine the Stones sound without him.

For a guy who wasn't in the band when the album came out, Ronnie damn sure makes these songs his own. The whole band sounds great but Woody was really in rare form for this show.

Am I off base in thinking that the band camaraderie seems much higher now than previous legs of 50 and Counting/ 14 on Fire? It seemed like things were still pretty icy between Mick and Keith when they first regrouped and hit the road and Keith's "foot in mouth" quotes in Rolling Stone about the sincerity of his apology certainly didn't help. Though a lot of those shows we

I don't know. I think Mick's vocals were horrible on this tour. Just a lazy, slurring shout. '75 was the year I got into the Stones but I think they sounded better and the shows more compelling in '72 and '78. Keith and Woody sounded pretty good though.

Seems like SFM is a song that Keith can really still crush. The rhythmic strumming doesn't require a lot of the dexterity that his arthritis etc have cost him. I think that song is every bit the anthem that JJF is and I've always wondered why they don't play it more. The theories that the rebellious message of the lyrics are counter to the lifestyle of 70 something year old gaz
