Crosseyed Heart.... boring? Really??????? A stunning return to form IMHO. I'd like to hear a new album, with the first album re-recorded and thrown in as a bonus disc. That would be fun. I think the biggest barrier to the band producing a 'classic Rolling Stones album' is Mick's reluctance to spends hours/days playing the same song over and over. They've always b

i left out Down in the Hole from my earlier post. A great blues, somewhat spoiled by a vocal that swings from Bakersfield to Barking and back again for no discernible reason.

It's odd. I don't consider ER one of their best but for some reason I do listen to it more than some of the 69-72 classic releases, usually on really hot days. My own remix adds Claudine, Everything is turning to Gold (left off Some Girls so a fair inclusion) and omits Indian Girl and Dance Pt 1 in favour of Dance pt 2. VL could have been great, WOULD have been great in the old, old vinyl days, when bands had to produce two sides of music that worked in a satisfying sequence. As a result, after quite a strong run of songs, we get a rambling grab-bag

I remember buying the album on the day of its release. I sat down and put the headphones on.40 minutes later my first thoughts were: "my ears are ringing from the violence of what I've listened to, but I haven't heard many great tunes." Playing Dirty Work again, I began to appreciate it. The songs were not all classics but at least the band sounded present and engaged. If y

I was sorry to read that Jagger has prepared demos for the next album. I think these demos are the enemy of the spontaneity that brings the true Stones sound. We all know how songs like Sympathy and Shattered came about; the band kicked them around for hours and hours until a jewel emerged from the rough. I can appreciate Mick has tired of watching Keef play the same riff for days in the studio b

I cannot quite believe what I'm reading in some of these posts. I had completely given up on Keith; I thought he'd shot his bit creatively. But this album is astonishingly good. The ballads are things of true organic beauty, the rockers rock like bastards. What more do you want? The arrangements make use of every drop of Keiths experience and the lyrics slip down like a good bourbon. Ev
