This looks like a really great project! I'm not sure whether my info is any use to you or not, but about 4-5 years ago I went through every bootleg I could find to compile the best outtakes etc. for the Exile sessions. I circulated the results on a couple of torrent sites, where it was very well received. Here's the info file I put together for it. The Best of the Exile On Mai

A good friend of mine, Harvey Kubernik, has just published a book "TURN UP THE RADIO: L.A. ROCK" (Santa Monica Press). It "captures the zeitgeist of Los Angeles rock and pop between the years of 1956 and 1972 – an era of unprecedented growth and creativity in the record industry." As part of the launch, the Egyptian Theatre in Los Angeles is hosted a series of events Augus

QuoteRockman Charlie, not probably the biggest hell-raiser in party zone, seemed to have enjoyed those free-going sessions. He was living with Keith and Anita... ...but but Doxa in the start wasn't Charlie driving something like 6 hrs each day to get ta Nellcote I think that's right. Charlie stayed in Aix-le-Provence, which before the autoroute existed was a major trek, while Bill

My AR copy is an RL, but the inner sleeve says "Mastering by Bob Ludwig for Masterdisk", so won't all copies have RL in the dead wax?

The Stones in 1976 (Knebworth), and I've always been disappointed that I couldn't get to any of the 71 and 73 UK shows. So the big gigs I can remember before 1976: Pink FLoyd (70) Led Zepp (73) The Who (71) Mountain (72) ELP (70) Genesis (71) John Mayall (69) West, Bruce, Laing (73) Yes (75) Deep Purple (71) Mahavishnu Orchestra (72) + a host of smaller UK bands

Interesting to me because of the Ottawa show. Nice to see something from the Fall 69 tour finally being officially released. They were on fire then, and this show has one of the best, perhaps even the finest ever, live versions of Young Man Blues. Edit: Looks like only the Tommy portion from Ottawa will be released, not the whole show. Still, the deluxe looks worthwhile to me.

Never seen any of the metal bands, but The Who (1971) Mahavishnu Orchestra (1972), and Zappa Plays Zappa (2007) were the earblasters for me.

QuoteNeighbours Thanks to the tapers, bigtyke66 and Godxofxrock9. We should also thank mjagger for demuxing the BBC source. It was a major contribution to this matrix. I forgot to do that on the Dime torrent.

Quotemickijaggeroo Quotebigtyke66 To my old ears, this 286kps AAC (not MP3!) download really kicks some serious ar$e! They sound like a real band again. And they did live too! Talk about the seven wonders of the world, these guys are the eight wonder of the world! I know, I saw the LA Staples 2. Quite a show!

QuoteCassius11 Listen to whatevere makes you happy, but the MFSL sounds like shit to me.Ricker was made by his booses to use way too much smiley face eq on those projects. The best pressing IMO, and I have owned the original: UK, German, US, Japanese, and later Canadian is the US original. Look for the large text on the bottom of the label, in bold that says Dist. A View From The Cheap Seats Outstanding show last night. I’ve seen the Stones (only) three times now: Knebworth 1976, Hollywood Bowl 2005, and last night. So I don’t have the perspective of many others. But this one has to be the one for me. Got a couple of $85 tickets and was hoping for the best, but got the worst. No line and easy to get in. Good news for us was that there were at least a hu

The book was apparently unfinished and never published. Does anyone know the intended contents of this book?? I'm intrigued. As far as I remember Jag

I just posted two torrents of different audience recordings over at hunger city. One is an lp rip, and is an incomplete recording ("A FREE CONCERT held in memory of BRIAN JONES", No label); and the other is a CD of a longer recording ("In The Park", Scorpio SCRO 001). Both are of acceptable quality.
