QuoteNICOS I remember that he liked SFTD..............can't remember when this was Well, given how iconic that drum intro and samba beat has become, I’d be pretty proud of it if I was the drummer on that song, to say nothing of wanting to perform it every chance I got!

QuoteTaylor1 I love Bridges and Voodoo.I think they are very underrated albums. His drumming was always great no matter the strength of the song or the bands playing Steel Wheels is my favorite of the modern Stones albums, and one of my desert island choices. That said, there’s no getting around it: VL and B2B have some of Charlie Watts’ finest work. Not only as a Rolling Stone, but as a pro

QuoteTheBlockbuster "Stripped" was one of his favourite albums. That’s right! Charlie even went as far as to say he liked the re-recorded version of “Not Fade Away” on Stripped better than he liked the Stones’ original cover version on ENHM.

I know right?! Actually, when B2B came out, Charlie gave an interview where he had a lot of positive words for the material. He liked “Gunface,” “Saint of Me,” “How Can I Stop?” and even “Anybody Seen My Baby?” I like “Gunface” too. That and “Low Down” are fantastic grove tracks in the classic Stones drums/guitar riff type of way.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. I def appreciate it. My main idea for a VL deluxe release was the quality of the demos and b-sides: I always feel they are worthy of an official release. I also think some of the demos like “Anything For You” are perfect examples of songs Mick and Keith could go back to and finish a-la a second Tattoo You. Likewise, the studio version of “You Got Me Rocking” j

When I first thought of this topic a few days ago, my argument for making VL the next deluxe release were the obvious ones: “Jump On Top Of Me,” “I’m Gonna Drive,” “The Storm,” “So Young,” “Middle of the Sea,” “Possesses Me,” “Anything For You,” “Make It Now,” “Zip Mouth Angel,” “You Got It Made,” “Ivy League,” “Honest Man,” “Monsoon Rangoon,” “My Love Is My Love,” the Bob Clearmountain mix of “O

I never thought the day would come where I'd feel this way, but as I wrote in another post last night, I obviously don't want the Stones to end, but I can't handle the thought of seeing another drummer in Charlie's spot. Not at this point. It's just different than when Bill left in 1993 and they replaced him with Darryl: Charlie had another 28 years since then, and he

Quotebv I am in Cancun Mexico on my own, doing the 14 days needed to go on the US Tour 2021 in September, due to the US Covid-19 rules. As I get the news about Charlie passing today, I get so sad. The Rolling Stones are my other family. I spend 25% or more of my life on The Rolling Stones. I used to call myself Charlie when I became a Stones fan exactly 50 years ago this month, back in August 197

Quoteshattered Quotetimbernardis Been crying today. I am going to go to shows IF they happen in the fall, but when I imagine looking up at the stage and not seeing Charlie, I just have an empty feeling, it just makes me sick, I cannot imagine it, and it makes me want to cry more. p Tim, listened to Sucking in the 70's and thought I would make it, then heard Fool to Cry, and so did I.

Quoteillyad1960 Like many others here on IORR I am sadden to hear of Charlie Watts death. Call it an end of an era or just call it great sadness. Been hearing about Charlie's death and the medical procedure he had 3 weeks ago but i have not read anything about the said surgical procedure or cause of death. Anyone know? Call it both.

Let it Bleed will always be #1 from the classic 1968-1972 period for me. And #1 album for Stones overall. As for the rest of 1968-1972, BB, GYYYO, SF and EOMS are tied for second place. I know that sounds like a cop out but it really depends on what mood I’m in, and what I want to listen to at that moment.

I know I'm in the minority on this, but Steel Wheels is one of my desert island Stones albums, and the Steel Wheels/Urban Jungle tour(s) are among my all-time favorite Stones performances. I LOVE Flashpoint. The only problem I have with it (aside from the one flaw of that tour: Matt Clifford's damn triangle on SFTD) is that it's not long enough. The Stones had plenty of killer

QuoteMelBelli QuoteGasLightStreet Quoteterraplane I have the remastered CD and the sound is really good but I am not fond of the album. Don't enjoy the Steel Wheels tracks and I hate the sound of Keith's acoustic. Some electric/gut string hybrid? So I find myself just skipping tracks.I like that they did include rarer songs though. A Sadowsky electric nylon. That was a weird sound

QuoteTaylor1 Nothing could top the 1972 performance from Ft Worth on the Ladies and Gentlemen movie. Taylor's blues solos are as great as any on recordvideo: I think the version in L&G is from Houston. But that said, if I had to choose my all-time favorite version of LIV, it's a tie between the two Fort Worth shows on the 1972 tour. They're majestic. Just ma
