QuoteCaptainchaos I love this song, one of the stronger tracks on the album. That riff though niggled at me as sounding like something similar to a riff I’d heard before. Finally realised it’s the riff at 3:30 what do you think? Subconscious inspiration maybe? Led Zeppelin what is and what should never be Hope no one minds me bumping this but it was the last post on the previous page and

Quotesf37 "Mess It Up" is growing on me after 5 or 6 listens. I am really enjoying its funk and groove, though I still wish the Stones had incorporated the original version of that "Really Wanna Tell The Truth" snippet into the song instead of altering it. Still, it's a pretty good track, better than "Angry" in my humble opinion. Does the rumour still exist t

QuoteS.T.P Nothings happening... Would have been a perfect timing for a live release from the Taylor years. Hot winter from down under ie. Adelade '73 could have been a killer for this summer Completely agree, why wait especially if theres no new album for quite a few months…

QuoteTheflyingDutchman QuoteDoxa Always nice to see and hear Keith playing the blues. Beautiful, idiosyncratic touch. I could listen this for ever. But, of course, if this is 'making music' probably the aims for creativity aren't that high any longer... (no, I don't think this is any of those 'dynamite riffs' he talked some years ago). Otherwise, if this is like a

Quotecrholmstrom QuoteRisingStone Quotecrholmstrom Quotehockenheim95 Quoteslewan two different shows with different setlists in each city is an interesting concept – what a pity that I'm not interested in Metallica. I wish the Stones would adopt that concept The Licks concept wasn't far away from it I went to several shows on the Licks tour, also on Bigger Bang. I think Licks was

Personally I’d like the songs for the album to be based on a live band playing together, to get the band dynamics accentuating the highs and lows, pushes and pulls as a unit. Then with additional overdubs on to this band performance. For me that’s when the recordings come off the best with the stones, and to be honest most other bands. Nothing really comes close to the vibe of a live band record

QuoteHairball Quote24FPS QuoteCaptainchaos I’d prefer staples, for more Taylor but any Taylor is great I was there. Yeah, Midnight Rambler was good, but it wasn't a great show. I believe Captainchaos was referring to Staples II on May 20, 2013 which was far superior to the first show on May 3 where they were still a bit cautious/tentative/rusty as it was the first major show of the tour

QuoteTheflyingDutchman QuoteDoxa I think in the shows I've been, I've only seen one guest, and he was labeled as a 'special guest'. And damn great that Taylor dude was. I think at least for me - who is not able to time travel - that was especially 'special' to see him with the other lads. - Doxa At least someone is understanding what he's playing on stage,

No love for Slippin away? I’ve always liked this song, some of the recent live performances with mick Taylor were really nice, some on YouTube are lovely. For me it showed what could’ve been with the 3 guitars with Taylor just bein part of the band rather than the MR/CYHMK approach (which I also love). But that’s for another thread.

Analogue isn’t dead. You’d be surprised how much interest in old equip/valves etc there is. Sure it quite often goes into pro tools or whatever. But that’s just the storing of the info. You can record all live, all mic’d up in a room with valve equip, get nice bleed of sounds into each other’s mics, jam it, not play to a click track etc, go thru a desk. And store it on pro tools speaking ve
