Mobile 1972
Posted by: mtripoli ()

I was listening to my version and it differs quite a bit from the version on "alabama jubilee"". Mine has Chip Monck talking to the crowd about some fans who seemed to have sat down in front or some such thing, it also does not have those fans talking. The sound is much deeper and possibly the tape runs a bit slow. Has anyone heard a version like this?

Hello!

When does this Chip Monck talk happen?

At the beginning - or in between which songs?

I have both "Alabama Jubilee" & "Kangaroo Mobile" , but these are

derived from the same source- only "Alabama Jubilee" sounds better!

Are you sure it is mobile?

Were you able to check it with the book:"Words of Wonder"?

Greetings Hans-Jo

Mobile 1972 was the Morganfield release from 1994 - it's the same show as the new version, but not the same quality - it's pretty distant

Didn't they have the fans sitting on the stage issue in D.C.?

I have had this on cassette since about 1978-79, there was no name or title, it is just the concert on 6/27/1972. Chip Monck is talking to the crowd just before the show starts, he is talking about people sitting in front of the stage and trying to calm something down. I have compared the songs on the cassette I have (which I transferred to cd) and the "alabama jubilee" and it is definately the Moble show. This is definately a different version, it appears to be closer to the stage as the sound is more full, not tinney sounding. I am going to upload to dime soon so please have at it and let me know what you all think.

Dear mtripoli please upload it to Dime. Would love to hear your tape in a good conversion (wac>flac). Better to have your source as good sounding as possible. So if you can, put it on Dime please.

Many thanks in advance!

That's the one that I have. Do you know what the best release of this show is?

I recommend seeding at Rocks Off [novogate.com]
click "bittorrent-tracker", but remember to announce it at "The Rolling Stones bitorrent thread Vol 15"
The tracker is down for one week though. Would love to hear this transfer of yours, in Flac.

Freezer recording was circulated via torrents - VGP copied it and used it for Alabama Jubilee, also available on disc 2 of Turn The Heat Up and Kangaroo Mobile

You should have seen the everlasting thread on TellMe some years ago - it's in the archives now, so you can't search for it. Freezer made some posts about his Stones recordings from the 70s, and people doubted that he had recorded the shows he mentioned. So he shared Mobile 1972 to prove that he was who he claimed to be. He recorded Chicago 78, Baton Rouge 75, Jacksonville 75 and other famous shows - and some of which are still uncirculated - both from 75/78/81 - not sure about other 72 shows

That's really cool. There's no way to look at the archive? That Chicago '78 recording is fantastic. Starts out a lil rough but it gets so much better. Baton Rouge and Jacksonville '75 are also quite good.
