How do you know it was Brian on slide?

I dont, it just sounds like him. No documentation of him doing it, and I have done a lot of research trying to find out. Its really just my opinion. Definately a different sound (and likely player) to than that of the finished version. Thats all I know.

This acetate was offered a year or so ago on Ebay. According to the discription it suppose to have different mixes incl. a different version of Midnight Rambler. Haven't heard it, so can't confirm.

As you can see the acetate also contains Sister Morphine and Loving Cup!

If the winning bidder is out here maybe he/she can tell us some more?

Funny , when I read about this version I immediately contacted John by mail and then I found out that he was already replying on this forum.
Sorry to have bothered you privately, John.

Just one question. The acetate with this Killer MR version owned by your friend is a single, one-side acetate or a LIB acetate double-side recorded?

12" double sided acetate, plays different than mono above. Early Stereo mixes. Also contains Jagger vox on Silver, Richards vox on Shelter.

I dont have it....Keith owns the actual acetate now. It is similar to the above, only stereo, and didnt have Sister Morphine, as I recall.

Your friend let you listen to it, but would not let you record it?
This is not a friend.
That being established, due as the song says,
stick your knife right down his throat and take it from him.

Than of course post it here.

No, cant do that....Its his recording, and he can do what he wants with it. It was a pleasure just to hear it. Big time tape traders have to keep the rare stuff close to the vest, in order to get similar rare material.

No worries, I would love to have it, but not in the cards right now.

I discussed this topic with some friends and what is curious is that an acetate of Midnight Rambler with Silver would have had a meaning in case of a projct of recording a single two sides wioth these two songs.

Therefore, I think we're discussing of a project evaluated and then parked: a single with Midnight Rambler and You got the silver which never surfaced, because, probably, of a change of commercial strategy.

Do you think thinking is realistic?

You are misreading what he says above.

He is referring to another 12" acetate of Let It Bleed which includes MR, YGTS (Jagger) and GS (KR) as well as the other songs like Loving Cup, Monkey Man etc. etc.

His point is that there are at _least_ 2 or 3 DIFFERENT ACETATES of Let It Bleed that have circulated in higher level collecting circles that he has heard and/or owned at one time.

One of them is now in Keith's possession (the highest level of collectors id say!).
