Thanks, Cafaro! I've never heard anything from Altamont, except the Stones, and what's on the dvd. Much appreciated!!

Your welcome.....We must all thank Luke33 for sending the disc to me! I've never heard this stuff either.

One thing I've noticed is that Grace Slick seems to be the only musician here that wasn't afraid of the Hells Angels.

Thanks very much, Luke33!

Yeah, from the movie I also got the impression that Grace wasn't too intimidated by them. Good for her!

I know, I thought MJ was going to soil his diaper and Grace Ws going to kick someone in the nuts

Grace seemed to out-tough even Keith, although Keith was pretty pissed, too.

Don't forget Marty Balin. He jumped off the stage to break up a fight between the Angels and somebody in the crowd. He ended up getting knocked out. I think it's even in the Gimme Shelter movie.

Thanks for the post Cafaro but I wouldn't call those guys "warm up bands".

Got to agree with Redshift - No Way can these bands ever be termed as warm up bands , each in there own way were headliners in their own right.

Symantics, baby, symantics. But are you all telling me that CSNY, JA, FBB, and Carlos were as famous, historied, etc..as the Stones were in 1969?

yeah and looking back on it...(hindsight is definitly 20/20...)

none of them should've took the stage that day for what transpired...

bad vibes...

bad scene...

bad drugs...

bad attitudes...!!!

the stones were to late in wanting to participate in an event of this magnitude...

they should've elected for monterey in '67 or bethel in august of '69...

everyone involved...

blew it...!!!
