Question about She Was Hot (extended version)

Does anyone know the origin of this fantastic version? Did it appear on any record or CD? Possibly in better quality than the radio broadcast?

I understand it was a radio promo copy that got out by mistake, it was played, hence we have the recording, but quickly withdrawn when the Stones realised the mistake. Not officially released I believe, & this appears to be the only one we've got

Can someone post it, or is it available somewhere ?

That's a real shame. It would have been great as a 12" single release.

Few weeks ago I saw radio only promo 12" single of She Was Hot on Ebay, then I assume it has just the LP version.

There is 2 promo versions: a short (3:59mn) and a long (4:40mn).

You can find one there:
[cgi.ebay.fr]

If this 6:40 version has been aired, even once by a DJ, the promo vinyl exists. A true gem to find...

Wonder if this could be it?

[eil.com]

£165 seems a lot to pay to find out though...

I have a 12" US promo of this single, but it is just the standard 4.40 version.

According to Bill German, the source for the extended mix was a cassette tape, not a 12" single. The She Was Hot 12" does not contain an extended mix.

This one is only a test pressing of the quite easy to find 12'

Beggars Banquet Fanzine:

"if you've been hearing a longer version--featuring extra piano on some radio stations, you're actually listening to a pirated tape never meant for public consumption, which somehow leaked out of the Atlantic Records offices."

Don't forget there's the 9 min backing track (version I) available on bootleg CD. That's a real and authentic extended version (no remix with repeated instrumental parts or so).

VGP "The Pain Of Love" (right speed only on the 2nd version of that release!)

This happened with the song Undercover as well. When in high school I taped a version of Undercover played on the radio just prior to the release of the single.

It was a thoroughly different mix of the song and I have never been able to find it since.

Naturally, the cassette I recorded it on was lost some 6 months later.

I also have confirmation from a friend of mine that it was not a strange incorrect memory as ha and i listened to the tape several times, as well as buying the single and album the day each was released.

Interesting. You're sure its not the 12" extended dance mix?

As other peolpe already wrote above, this extended version of She Was Hot is not avialable on any record, neither on a 12" nor on any promo release. All official and promo records contain only the album version (4:40) and a shortened/edited version of it (3:59). And - there is no "12" extended dance mix" existing of this track.

Does the long version have the missing 1st verse lyrics (sung in the video)...

"There goes the telephone
Suddenly I feel at home
And there's a sweet voice on the line"

This ALWAYS bugged me how it was not included on the album, nor the current live versions. Why did they do this?

It makes the first verse uneven in count, and "Grab a cab, grab a cab baby, come right by" has nothing to rhyme with.

The 12" I was referring to was the version of Undercover of the Night JMarko mentioned. I was one of the people who posted above concerning the pirated extended mix of She Was Hot. As to Mr. Douglas' question, the extra verse is included as in the music video, but it is played at the proper speed unlike the video which is too fast.

If it was not for it being played on the radio, would this version have never gotten out, such as on a boot album?

I, for one, am glad they took out that verse in the final version. It isn't very good.
