Isn't this just official songs?

Erik, at this point in time they probably are just official songs. When this disc showed up about 10 years ago, it was greeted in my neck of the woods with great joy by a lot of Stones fans.

At any rate, I think it still makes a pretty good sampler.

Well, all of the songs were just as easy to find 10 years ago.
But I'm glad you like the CD. I'm not the judge here...just thinking out loud about the policy of not posting official songs here.

Not to keep this going, I do agree about posting official songs here. But 10 years ago I know some people that couldn't get there hands on some of these. Anyway, I will bow to the majority. Post the rest or let it go. Let me know folks.

Go ahead post the rest, people are worrying about 'offical' songs when we don't even know what's on the cd. Maybe you can post just the song titles to see if they are offical or not.

Good idea coffepotman.
Like I said their is minimal info on the disc package. The rest of the titles are:

Satisfaction (True Stereo)
Memphis (rare instrumental)
Get Off My Cloud (Alexis Korner Featuring The Stones)
Fortune Teller (rare radio version)
Child of the Moon (true stereo)
Sister Morphine (Marianne Faithful w/ the Stones)
Highland Fling (Instrumental)
My Girl (Rare Track)
Rock and A hard Place (Alternate version)

Just a few more titles

Child Of The Moon true stereo released officially on No Stone Unturned (Decca 1973) and Sister Morphine is the B-side to Marrianne's Something Better single.

It's released on The Best Of The Rest.
The whole CD is official.

I don't mean to be inpolite or anything, I'm sure you meant it well.
BTW, "Memphis" is an instrumental that don't feature any Stones members (!).

Not a problem. As for the Stones not playing on Memphis, that's always been open to speculation, as was their involvement in the entire Andrew Loog Oldham Orchestra sessions. It is interesting to note that John Mclaughlin played guitar on these sessions and Jimmy Page supposedly played bass.

Hi chincoteague,

I myself am still quite interested in obtaining these tracks through private means. At your convenience, if you would please drop me an e-mail at flag65@rogers.com, I would really appreciate it, and I would be more than willing to send something back your way as compensation for the links to those tracks. Thank you so much!

I'm confused about the instrumental Memphis. Is the song I posted below the same song with words or a completely different song?

Memphis Tennessee

I think this track is on the Rest of the Best german box and on 16 Hip Hits w/ Da Doo Ron Ron. I believe both are "Oldham Orchestra" songs.

Just a quick question. After being taken to task for posting the tracks above, I am seeing other official tracks being posted. It doesn't seem to matter if they are taken from DVD or not. Seems to me as though there is a double standard in play. If there is any interest from any of you in seeing the rest of the rarities tracks posted. If there is, please let me know.

And remember, when the disc came out it was considered a bootleg.

Cheers.

You do make a valid point, my friend. The policy here seems to be somewhat of a grey or shaded area in its definition, about what should or should not be posted. Maybe some clarification is required from the powers that be.

Just post, I won't stop you.

I just thought it's a difference between posting an official album (the CD was sent to radio stations) without any request about it,
then to give in for 100s of fans wanting to hear 2 tracks from an extended version of ABB.
Lotsa request on a few partucal songs is not the same as "letting it all free".

And I have explained what I think makes the ABB songs allright to spread for free, on other threads. What's all this rubbish about "double morals"?

But then again, this compilation contains tracks that nobody would go searching for on official Stones albums....so I don't mind.

Thanks for your blessing! As for tracks nobody would search for on official Stones lp's, I beg to differ. I have received some requests for these tracks.
Anyway, neither here nor there.
Anyway, we won't agree on the double standards argument- that's ok too.

Cheers!

I didn't mean that they are bad or something, I meant that you can't find them in your local CD store.

Well, if I sounded a bit angry, I'm sorry. I got an anonymous email from somebody about those ABB songs, that's why, of course it's not your fault.
I look forward to that Fortune Teller radio version, myself actually.
Cheers mate!

I can understand that. I don't care for people who won't sign off on their views. At any rate, the rest will hopefully get posted tonight.

Chinoteague:

If it is out of print, go for it.
If the song is an unreleased alternate, go for it.

Rest of the Best Vinyl boxset is out of print and any CD of it is a bootleg.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Erik Snow:

The ABB songs from the DVD are current. Yes, I downloaded them anyway. No, I did not send u the email and I thank you for the tracks.

No emails are annonymous, lets see that email address Eric and smoke em out.

Can someone give the lowdown on the 2 tracks here titled Memphis???

Better be careful about posting anything that ABKCO owns...they can shut down the entire site.

Good point. But don't they own the rights to songs that are performed live and posted here, or outtakes from earlier recording sessions that are posted here as well?
