Wow! Pirate radio. I'd forgotten about these stations. If I remember correctly, some of the broadcast sites were on oil rig platforms or such in the North Sea. The t.v. show, "Secret Agent" (as it was called stateside) even had it's main character investigating spy stuff at a pirate station located offshore. They were started as a way to get around BBC restictions if memory serves me right. Be cool to have some of these stations broadcasting now considering the crap that passes for commercial radio and music. Thank god for XM satellite...they play a lot of old Stones stuff on their Deep Tracks channel. Thanks for this post.

Radio Caroline was the one we listened to & of course there was Radio Luxembourg which was the first of the stations to play what we wanted to listen to.
