Stone Richards 'has brain haemorrhage' after tree fall

03/05/2006 - 12:10:13

Rolling Stone Keith Richards is to undergo surgery after suffering a
brain
haemorrhage when he fell out of a palm tree, it was reported today.

Richards, 62, was believed initially to have suffered only mild
concussion
in the accident in Fiji last Thursday.

But he continued to suffer headaches after his discharge from hospital
and
doctors have now diagnosed bleeding in the brain, according to The Sun.

He will require an operation to drill a hole in his skull in order to
drain
the blood.

“Keith’s accident has turned out worse than everybody feared,” a close
friend told the newspaper.
“After the tests doctors decided they should drain his skull. It has
given
him a scare but he has been told that he should make a full recovery
once
it’s done.”

Guitarist Richards is believed to have fallen out of a coconut tree at
the
exclusive Wakaya Club resort in Fiji.

He was treated in a Fiji hospital before being airlifted to a hospital
in
Auckland, New Zealand for observation.

Doctors have since discharged him but it is not known where he went
after
his release.
It remains unclear whether Richards’ injury will have any effect on the
Rolling Stones’ A Bigger Bang world tour, due to resume in late May at
the
Olympic Stadium in Barcelona, followed by 34 more dates across Europe.

Richards and wife Patti Hansen flew to Fiji for a holiday after playing
two
concerts in New Zealand over Easter.

Keith Richards' brain surgery

2006-05-03 12:30:02

Rolling Stones star Keith Richards is to undergo brain surgery after
injuring himself falling out of a coconut tree.

The legendary rocker will have his skull drilled to relieve a brain
haemorrhage, according to a report in Britain's The Sun newspaper.

The 62-year-old was originally diagnosed with a concussion after
hurting
himself while he was on holiday in Fiji's exclusive Wakaya Club resort.

Richards and bandmate Ronnie Wood are thought to have been climbing
palm
trees to collect coconuts when the rocker fell, hitting his head.

He was taken to a local hospital but was later airlifted to a New
Zealand
hospital for observation.

The star underwent further tests after complaining of a dull headache.

Doctors have now discovered a small haemorrhage.

A source said: "Keith's accident has turned out worse than everybody
feared.

"After the tests doctors decided they should drain his skull. It has
given
him a scare but he has been told that he should make a full recovery
once
it's done."

I wonder why the major news systems aren't onto this. The femalefirst site also has an article about Keith starring in Pirates of the Caribbean 2, not so according to the latest news from all the sites talking about the upcoming film, do a google, he's nowhere to be seen in the cast lists.

He was in the hospital long enough for them to determine if it was a concussion or something much more serious,I would imagine.

yeah - and Dylan's dead and Elvis was in my supermarket - i will wait and see, it is common for the scaremongers to 'create' an accident more serious than it is - I suspect the main news lines are not on it simply because they can't find out any proof of it - the 'close friend' helps - you will be believing Keith really did change his blood in Switzerland.
The rich will always spend longer in hospital than us - the way of the world. I don't think there's anything more sinister than the main news to date - but now the's the time I am wrong, once I open my mouth and state something usually the opposite occurs.

2 reports out in Detroit say different things. 1 says he will have surgery and give up booze and cigarettes, according to his son Marlon, and the other says that a deejay in New York has talked to someone in the Stones and they said the surgery story was false. He also said if it was that serious, Keith's manager who is still in New York would have left for New Zealand by now. So who knows, just get well Keith!!
