Request: L.A Friday (July 13, 1975)
Posted by: Anonymous User ()
Date: March 26, 2006 17:59

Can some kind soul please post this marvellous boot that surpasses "LOVE YOU LIVE " for sound quality and was voted as N0. # 4 all-time by the subscribers of Undercover magazine back in 1999.

Believe the best source for this concert is the VINYL GANG double CD release. The correct artwork for this boot is shown below.

Mother thanks you in advance.

Maybe one of our more knowledgable members can unravel what's what with the 5 LA gigs between 9-13 July '75.

I've got 'Complete LA Friday' which isn't. It's basically 2 versions of Sunday 13th with a few Thurs 10th songs mixed in. Very nice recordings with the 'who went to church this sunday?' from Mick between Happy & TD.

Friday was thus the 11th which I've got on a pro shot dvd 'LA Blues', is there an audio equivalent of this?

There's tons of LA complete/connection/friday/sunday versions out there & I'm thoroughly confused. I don't need all 5 gigs, anyone know what's the best versions to aim for to get a good representation of LA '75

Further to my message:

As indicated, the concert was actually recorded on the Sunday, but given the name, "LA FRIDAY", named after the old LP's.

Hope this clears up the misunderstanding about the numerous boots made of this concert.

Finally, the complete "Sunday" gig in the best possible quality; not Friday. Stones played the Forum in Inglewood on Wednesday 9th, Thursday 10th,

Definitely not. They played five nights in a row (July 9, 10, 11, 12 & 13).

Macman15 & Tornandfrayed:

Just to be clear, that review and comments are from the intenet. I have no knowledge of when they did or didn't perform at L.A. forum in 1975.

I have another vesion of "Who Went To Church On Sunday"
Artwork of the Eagle Plane on the front cover
No title on the CD but when loaded into the PC comes up as "WWTCOS"
Each disc is labelled as RS 75-1, RS 75-2 (Promotional Copy, Not For Sale)
Very minor timing changes on the cover from the VGP version

Zagalo:

" Who Went To Church On Sunday " is a re-release of " LA Friday ". Exact same concert.

Actually, Vinyl Gang also released their own " Who Went To Church On Sunday ".

Seems safe to assume that quality is on par with Vinyl Gang since " Who Went To Church On Sunday " came out after " LA Friday ".

Couldn't find out reference to the version you have. Artwork is available for the Vinyl Gang version on the internet.

If you can, please arrange to post " Who Went To Church On Sunday ", preferably at either 256 KB/s or 320 KB/s to retain maximum quality of this audience type recording.

That's Life? The Frank Sinatra song? Wow, how weird, I made a list of songs that I wanted The Stones to cover and That's Life was one of it. I didn't know they had done it already. Cool. I hope someone posts this show.

Zagalo:

It sounds fantastic, given that it is an AUD recording.

No wonder it is rated so high.

Some reviews from the internet rated it the all-time best bootleg. I'm not sure whether I would go that far but certainly it should be in everybody's collection.

It is without question the numero ono boot from 1975. It is what the commercial " LOVE YOU LIVE " should have been.

Thank You, Thank You !!!!!!!!!!

Look forward to the next batch of songs.

Folks:

For the benefit of anybody reading this thread:

CD 1 / track # 8 is actually " You Can't Always Get What You Want " (labelled incorrectly as Midnight Rambler)

" Midnight Rambler " will be included on CD 2 as track # 8.

The complete track listing for L.A. Friday is shown above in my earlier message.

Zagalo:

Thanks for the entire L.A. Friday concert, especially at 320 KB/s bitrate.

I've had a chance to listen to most of CD 1 today and would agree it is an amazing AUD recording, worthy of any serious Rolling Stones collector.

Great stuff! Have not listened to all of it yet, but I used to have that recording years ago and this sounds like a great upgrade in sound quality. Is that the one with the silly chicks yelling "satisfaaaction"?

I think the one with the screaming girls is one of the MSG shows from this 75 tour, Otonneau. If I'm not wrong the boot is "Hold On Tight".

OK. I always felt that really illustrated the moment when the Stones stopped meaning anything in terms of rebels or whatever. Chicks wanting to hear the greatest hits.
