Has anyone heard of the Bearsville (Woodstock?) sessions from some time in 1978? Are they rehearsal sessions or what? Anyone have them? Thanks.

Yes, they are rehearsals for the 1978 tour...I dont have these as of yet, but from what I hear, they are worth obtaining

VGP has these great rehearsals on a 4cd disc in very good quality. Great songs on there! Very easy to obtain. Have some patience and I'm sure someone will post some off it here.

It's copied on a european label, in a video-sized box. I've got that one. Half the price, and the same stuff. This is perhaps the best rehearsal-bootleg ever (with the Stones that is).

The sugarmegs site listed above only allows downloads during part of the day. The Bearsville session is in two parts. Part 1 is very large; part 2 about a third the size of part 1. There's also another Stones download on the site - all early Stones recordings. And for those who may be interested, there's a session of Dylan and Johnny Cash singing country songs together. Look for this under Dylan's name. Well worth the download.

FYI

There is an abbreviated version of the 1978 rehearsals worth chasing on a single CD issued in digipak format.

These are from a non-digipack version called TRS In Woodstock (The 1978 Tour Rehearsals)

15 tracks (pretty good quality) - 5 now, the rest tomorrow..

Sorry to not make it clear, but the downloads for the tela.sugarmegs site explains that the downloading hours are 5pm to 9am NYC time, but you can still listen to the mp3 file.
I would recommend going on the site for a look around, it really is a great site, with too many artists to mention but just so many great files.
thanks

There has also been a 4-cd-set release of these sessions by the Red Devil label. Comes with a nice booklet. All cd's are in a box, size of an LP. Great stuff to have if you are into the studiowork of the Stones.

Cheers,

Dolf
