I was wondering if anyone has an early version of this song, perhaps from the 30's or 40's? I know that this song has often been covered (not sure if the stones ever covered it), but i know janis joplin and the doors covered it. I would like to hear an original version if anyone else has it. Thanks

Thanks, these are both nice versions. The "Leadbelly" version is definately not Leadbelly, I'm pretty sure the singer is white.
