You have to get 'Live'r than you'll ever be' classic. San Diego is OK too. If you can wait a couple of days I'll post Live'r. I've got to finish posting Boston'99 tommorrow then I'll have time. Or maybe someone else has the time & inclination.

This is how I see it:

1st - Both Oakland shows + San Diego. Just about the same excellent audience sound.

2nd - 1st New York City show, a bit worse than Oakland and San Diego in sound quality, but a much better concert.

3rd - "Some Satanic Tour" (DAC), Boston and Baltimore, quite OK sound, and marvellous performance

also, the "Killer Festival" Altamont Speedway 1969 is a great "historic" listen....sounds like the taper was near the chaos.....quite a bit of audience chatter, but imo it ads to the atmosphere....the sound is quite good for an audience recording for the time and the Stones premiered Brown Sugar at that show

Listening to Altamont on headphones is a real trip. The taper was definitely right by the action when they stopped playing Sympathy. You can hear one guy say to the other, "we got to get out of here, there's no where to go". You can also hear a lot of the fighting going on quite clearly.

also "Liver Than They'll Ever Be" (not to be confused with "Liver Than You'll Ever Be").....an excellent audience recording (despite some technical difficulties with the guitar amps) of the complete 1st show from Nov.9, 1969....not to be confused with the radio (incomplete) broadcast

"Live'r Than They'll Ever Be" is also known as "Pot Boiler 1969", I'd like to add. I got that one.
It's very strange how these 2 Oakland shows and the San Diego show is SO close in both sound quality and in performance.
Seems like the recorder is at the exact same place every time. My guess is that it is placed in a "box" on stage.
They play really, really great, BUT they don't get that "Get Yer Ya-Yas Out"-energy. It's more laid-back, like Leeds 1971. But it's really good, though.

Has the partial soundboard that Bill Graham played on a radio broadcast ever surfaced? I'd love to hear that one...

In an earlier message, you offered to post " LIVER THAN YOU'LL EVER BE ".

I'm hoping that you still plan to do so.

I've never heard the so-called " first " bootleg that started the hole craze back in 1969 so it would we great to add this to my collection.

Posting it would be super. Mucho gracious !!

I don't know if anyone else agrees but I actually think that Fort Collins is a really rockin' show, particularly Taylor, which is odd given that it's the warm-up show.I hadn't heard it until about a year ago and was pleasantly surprised. Not amazing sound quality but a very cool performance IMO.

I love Fort Collins also!. Champaign Ill too ( same mediocre recording but backed w/LA Nov 8 2nd show--Cocaine etc. makes it worth it). LA#2 is also on a good cd called Born in A Crossfire Hurricane which is a differant tape but also good. I also like RiskDisc LA#1 called LA Queenie.

gcassan, 'Liver' is actually Oakland 2nd show, get Rusty 50's trax & you've basically got it. Missing only a few trax which I'll post after the game.

Okay, first of all there's tons of versions of Liver Than You'll Ever Be, I think what I've got is the TSP one.

On the original tape there were audio problems with JJF & UMT, so versions of these from other shows were substituted, this is what I've got. HOWEVER, the original Liver was recently posted & I got the original versions of the 2 songs & I've posted these as trax 17-18, you can see the audio hassles on JJF & UMT was only partially recorded.
Hope this makes sense, Here's the correct track list

01 JJF
02 Carol
03 Sympathy for the devil
04 StrayCat
05 Prodigal
06 YouGottaMove
07 Love in vain
08 I'm Free
09 UnderMy Thumb
10 Midnight Rambler
11 Live with me
12 Gimme Shelter
13 Little Quennie
14 Satisfaction
15 Honky Tonk Women
16 Street fighting man

& here's the links for the missing songs
01 JJF

04-StrayCat
[s23.yousendit.com]
05-Prodigal
[s23.yousendit.com]
06-YouGottaMove
[s23.yousendit.com]
09-UMT
[s23.yousendit.com]
14-Satisfaction
