'Stewed And Keefed' it is a song “Merry Christmas Baby”

Written: Merry Christmas Baby (Lou Baxter and Johnny Moore) (1947)

Elvis Presley: “Merry Christmas Baby” was as unlikely as it was welcome in the antiseptically “wonderful world of Christmas,” a five-minute-plus blues jam on the 1948

Listen to it, it's the same track as the instrumental 'Stewed And Keefed' by the Rolling Stones!

Elvis' version is from 1971... eye rolling smiley

Also I guess that this topic is something for the Tell Me-section and not for the buy/sell/trade Hot Stuff-section.

The original version by Charles Brown from 1947 does not sound very similar to Stewed And Keefed:

Same applies for Chuck Berry's version, which most probably was the only version they knew in 1964 when they recorded Stewed And Keefed.

Everybody knew Elvis in 64 and don't the Stones cover an Elvis tune on Charlie is My Darling? No way we can know. And it is so long ago there would be little reason to trust anybodys memory.

As I wrote above, Elvis version is from 1971.

As already mentioned by NeddieFlanders, Merry Christmas Baby was recorded by Chuck Berry on December 19, 1958 and was used as a b-side to Run Rudolph Run, imho Keith & Mick knew about it from Chuck first. That being said, the only connection I see with Stewed & Keefed is due to the fact that both are 12 bar blues... and great! Nice day everybody!
