20230323+20240206 A Ben Waters & Ronnie Wood Fan Project [with reworked audio]

When Ronnie Wood joined Ben Waters on his 50th birthday concert in February 2024, StonyRoad came up with the idea for a new project. A Ben Waters / Ronnie Wood collaborative work was born. He reworked the audio tracks from two London shows. The 2023 charity at the Ivy Club and the Half Moon Putney concert to celebrate Ben Waters' 50th birthday. Ron and special guest stars supported The Ben Waters Band.

ExileStones created most of the cover art using photos kindly shared by Hendrik Mulder. Thanks to all YT, FB & Instagram uploaders, including some of the performing artists for their videos, and to nzb for his help and his detailed info.

Here's the result, a reworked version of my Ivy Club video plus the new Putney video, featuring all of the Ronnie Wood tracks.

The Wood's Charity Event Helps Spinal Cord Injuries

Sally Wood’s and Anne Heath’s charity event in London’s Ivy Club was a very intimate gig. The benefit raised £ 102,011 and awareness for the spinal injury charity Aspire.

Hostess Sally Wood introduced Jonathan Goodwin, stuntman/escape artist who was spinally injured, who shared his story of how he overcame the biggest challenges of his life.

Ronnie Wood was the star of the show with the Ben Waters Band. Ron looked and sounded great.

Ben had just flown in from Australia. There was a 3pm rehearsal on the day of the show.

The setlist was centered around the vocalists, Imelda May and Chanel Haynes, who were fantastic!

Chanel was Tina, in the brilliant production of “Tina Turner Musical,” in London last year. Chanel belted out great renditions of “Proud Mary,” “The Best,” “River Deep, Mountain High,“ and “Rock Me Baby.”

Chanel stole the show for a while with a powerful performance of “The Best” made famous by Tina Turner. This soulful sing-along featured a sax solo by Ben’s son Tom Waters. Tom was also featured on the “Boogie 4 Stu” album.

Imelda graced the stage while singing “Rock & Roll Music,” “Every Night About This Time,” “Wee Wee Hours,” “Remember,” and “Rock Me Baby.“ Imelda May, a friend of Sally and Ron Wood has collaborated with Ronnie several times live and in the studio appearing on the Imelda May album "11 Past The Hour".

AAnother highlight of the night was “Chain of Fools” led by Ronnie Wood’s lead vocals and very nice guitar work. “Chain Of Fools” featuring Ron Wood was released on Don Conway’s “Back To The Streets” album. Ben Waters did a trademark piano solo. Imelda May, and Chanel Haynes added beautiful backing vocals.

Someone asked for "I Can Feel The Fire" and Ron just started it up, I don't think the band knew the song, hence a very short version. "I Can Feel The Fire" went into “Let It Rock” even though both songs were not on the setlist. Ben Waters sang two verses of “Let It Rock.” Some of the audience sang along with "go Johnny go" during the chorus. Ronnie graciously transitioned the song into “Johnny B. Goode.” The show took on a life of its own !

“Lewis Boogie,” Ben Waters' tribute to one of his biggest influences, Jerry Lee Lewis, featured Ben Waters on lead vocals and a boogie-woogie piano solo.

Nico Zentgraf’s online database “The Complete Works of the Rolling Stones” lists the line-up: Ron Wood on guitar and vocals, Ben Waters on piano and vocals, Ian Jennings played bass, Ady Milward on drums, Imelda May on vocals, Chanel Haynes on vocals. Ben Waters' twenty-two-year-old son, Tom Waters was featured on saxophone.

Ronnie took two short breaks during the two-and-a-half hours he played. During a break while the band continued, Ronnie danced away with a preteen who needed an energized dance partner. Eventually, he picked up a guitar and rejoined the band in the middle of a tune.

Ronnie justifiably seemed tired when he left the club at close to midnight. He was more than gracious after the show accommodating guest requests for autographs, and photos.

The night was full of just awesome live rock-and-roll, boogie-woogie, bluesy music and a lot of fun.

Ben Waters Celebrates his 50th with Surprise Guests

Ben Waters thanked, “All the brilliant musicians who came and played” at his
50th birthday gig at London’s Half Moon Putney on February 6, 2024. Ben Waters
said he had, “The best birthday ever!”

Ronnie Wood and Chanel Haynes came to the party, apparently as a birthday
surprise! Ron said, “I just came by to wish Ben a happy birthday.”

The legendary Ronnie Wood played with the Ben Waters’ band on some great
impromptu performances. Ron performed on a nice rendition of “Dirty Blue,”
before jamming a great guitar solo on “Little Queenie.”

Chanel Haynes became the “Honky Tonk Woman” as she sang about how she “Laid a
VIP in New York City.”

“Around and Around” was an amazing jam with two Ben Waters’ piano solos.

Chanel Haynes became Tina Turner performing “The Best,” a signature song of
Tina’s.

“She Better” and “Long Time Ago” featured amazing jams on piano by Ben Waters!

Other musical talent that night included Miss Lola Leng Taylor on vocals. Ben’s
old mates pianist Diz Watson, Axel Zwingenberger, Ian Jennings, Kev Crowe,
Glen Smith, Dave Kelly, Nick Lunt, Adam Davy, Marky Dawson, Chris Payne, and of
course, Ben’s son Tom Waters came and celebrated.
