Changes to your WeTransfer account

We are always looking to improve our products and the services that we provide to WeTransfer account holders. As a result, we are updating our plans.

What does this mean for you?
On February 22, 2024, we will be migrating your current WeTransfer Free account to a new free WeTransfer Basic plan. The migration could take place at any time on this date, and you will receive an email within 48 hours to confirm your migration.

See below for a summary of changes to your account.

What happens next?
You can continue to use your current Free plan until your account is migrated. The new storage and download limits will be effective immediately once your account is migrated. All other changes to your account, including the new 3 days default transfer expiration, will impact only new file transfers made after your account migration.

How does it affect uploads without account?

I assume there will be a settings option when you upload which if you don't change it will mean your files stay up for only three days. So there would be a flood of reup requests from people like gomper076 who work to a strict timetable of site visits for their freeloading and can't fit returning to websites every 3 days to see if there is a new upload into their busy schedules.

I am not sure if we can change the expiration to 7 days or more.

I do like the 3GB uploads instead of 2GB.

In some ways it sounds to good to be true, so we shallsee what happens.

The limit of 100 downloads is a problem with anything worth having. It won't even take 3 days to reach 100 from what I have seen. And imagine how fast a Captain Acid upload will reach 100.

For now nothing change: no downloads or duration limit

Yep - still 2GB and 7 days in free mode - [WeTransfer.com] . And no announcement of changes to find.

I got an e-mail from wetransfer saying "Your WeTransfer account has been migrated successfully."

So default is set to 3 days for when sending files and you can choose also 7 days, 30 days or 60 days. However the 30 days and 60 days are grayed out probably because you have to pay for it.

My account is also free.

Doesn’t it say there will be a limit of 100 downloads per transfer too? As in you put something up on WT, it stays for 3 days and can only be downloaded 100 times.

Where? There's no such statement by WT for the free mode (w/o account).

Well,this is strange, i don`t know what to think. My last post on wetransfer "Cricket Anyone?" posted 3 days ago had 620 downloads with no problem.

Nothing to see on WT's pricing list (still 2GB/7d) - [WeTransfer.com] . Tested via VPN in US, UK, France, Germany.
