Mick Taylor
with Mayall’s Bluesbreakers
in springtime 1982

This is a series dedicated to Mick Taylor’s shows with John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers in May and June 1982 when they toured California and the US East Coast.
A big thank you to all the people who recorded these shows and who shared them and to my two accomplices nzb and Jaap (Stonesmuziekfan) who gave me the benefit of their versions of these shows and their advice and support ... and therefore without whom this project would not have been possible.

Line-up: MT (gtr; some keyb)/John Mayall (voc, keyb, harm, gtr)/John McVie (bass)/Colin Allen (dr)

1982 Springtime US-tour Part 3: ‘US East Coast Tour’
VOLUME 03
7th June 1982
- DETROIT -
Grand Circus

7th June: Detroit, Michigan, Grand Circus

CD 1
01 - Band introduction #1
02 - An Eye For An Eye
03 - Oh, Pretty Woman
04 - All Night, All Day
05 - My Time After Awhile
06 - You Never Can Be Trusted
07 - Road Show

CD 2
01 - Rock It In The Pocket
02 - Lookin' For Willie
03 - I Should Know Better
04 - Checkin' Up On My Baby
05 - The Dark Side Of Midnight
06 - Room To Move
07 - Room To Move [reprise] and band introduction #2
08 - Ridin' On To Santa Fé

I already improved this recording years ago (in 2016), here’s what I did:

The biggest problems with the recording were:
- the tape ran much too fast ! After comparison with the official 1982 CD I decided to use a deceleration of -5%
- After track n° 2 the sound was very high and saturated. To make it a little more comfortable I used filters (-15% treble on track 3 and for the others +15% bass and -15% treble): the result is that it doesn’t sound so aggressive anymore.
- On CD n°2 the first track was cut in 4 parts with gaps between them: I tried to rebuild the complete song but the gaps are still noticeable at 2’58, 3’30 & 4’20. (and there are other little gaps in the song…).
The 6th track was also cut in two parts: I rebuild the song but the gap can still be heard at 1’20.
I deleted the 2 minutes of crowd noise and talking at the end of the show and I also improved the beginnings/ends of the CD-rs.
Special thanks to « Smokeydusky » who send me these files.

My more current ‘works’ to improve it have been phasing, channels equilibrating (+30% for the left channel) and sound amplifying.

As usual all the infos are taken from The Mick Taylor Complete Works Database by Nico Zentgraf: [www.nzentgraf.de]

A clarification from Maidenlane: the title played very often as an encore is “Ridin’ On The Santa Fe” and not “Ridin’ On To Santa Fe” because that refers to the train and not the city! The Santa Fe is one of the largest railroad companies in the United States.
As a result I will change the texts and covers of Vol 02 and 03 (… and the next ones).
This may seem like a detail, but I must try to do things rigorously.
Here the link (valid until 10/11/23) for the corrected text & covers (it's also added in the initial post)
