Quote wiredallnight Thanks. It is the version from this post, isn't it? [iorr.org]
But why does the filename say "cleaned"?
if i remember correctly it was available on the www about 2 years ago but don´t know exactly where i got it from. i did some "cleaning" on it, adjusted the channel volumes (left one was only 38%), increased the dynamics, also the brilliance a bit etc - just for my personal pleasure.
This album deserves a super deluxe treatment, but the majority of it should include many of these early versions of most of the songs.
This was an experimental album in many ways and hopefully the vaults still have the embryonic and progressive versions of the material. And while these sessions were really filled with the early stages of the Mick/Keith feud, and the resulting album tends to lean to the over-produced/cooked edge (still, perhaps, there last great original studio album, though overlooked) it’s a fascinating study of their writing and recording process.
And, yes, there are plenty of good outtakes that could be included. Hopefully one that could be a lead “single” for the release that would grab people’s attention.
This particular version of Undercover really highlights how sinister a track it really could have been, as great as it is in its final version. Love the edgier lyrics.
