The Maidenlane Recordings:
a Mick Taylor tribute
Long-time Mick Taylor fan Maidenlane taped a number of Mick’s gigs on the East Coast (mainly in New York City) between November 1986 - May 1993 to preserve his own memories. Around the same time Mick Taylor lived in NYC and thus did a lot of concerts there, with his own bands or as a guest artist with other great musicians.
In our first series we first published the concerts that had never been circulated in any form. By listening to the others we discovered that many of his alternative recordings were interesting too. In the second series we publish the “Maidenlane Tapes Alts” which will feature recordings that are either in better sound quality, more complete or sound differently from previous releases.
In this last series we present the result of mixes and merges which will be similar to the Frankenstein productions (of my FP-series): by “mixing” I mean that I simultaneously record the 2 sources and by “merging” I mean that I record each source on a different channel (one for the left channel and the other for the right).
Of course, we are very grateful to Maidenlane and I also would like to thank nzb for his help (his advice, judgements and expertise have been invaluable to me).

The Maidenlane FRANKENSTEIN’S VERSIONS
Volume 18
28. March 1990
NYC
Lone Star Roadhouse
(1st show)
(2 sources mixed and merged)

28th March 1990: New York City, Lone Star Roadhouse (1st show)
Line-up: MT (gtr, voc)/Blondie Chaplin (gtr, voc)/Joel Diamond (keyb)/Wilbur Bascomb (bass)/Eric Parker (dr)

CD1: Part I: the mixed versions
01 - tuning (1st minute solely nzb then mix)
02 - instrumental blues
03 - Laundromat Blues
04 - Semolina
05 - Red House (for the details see below)

CD2:
01 - Goin' South (incl. ‘Don’t Cry For Me Argentina’)
02 - band introduction
03 - You Gotta Move
Part II: the merged versions (left channel Maidenlane, right channel previous version)
04 - tuning (faded in)
05 - instrumental blues
06 - Laundromat Blues
07 - Semolina
08 - Red House (faded out)

Maidenlane’s recording is interesting because it is more complete than the rare already circulating version. It contains the 2nd part of 'Red House' which, in the previous version, was incomplete and damaged.
As usual I decided to combine both recordings with the idea of having the most complete recording with the best possible sound.
The first minute of the tuning is coming solely from the previous recording.
For ‘Red House’ here’s the details
- from 0’00 until 13’09: mix of both sources
- from 13’09 until 19’37: solely Maidenlane recording
- from 19’37 until the end: solely the previous source is used (it was time for Maidenlane to change the tape side!)

All recordings are edited, declicked and the channels equilibrated and synchronized.
As in the previous volumes I added as 1st part the more complete version with the mixes and I completed it with some merged versions.
Note that from the 2nd part of ‘Red House’ the previous recording is not too good and had to be accelerated by +0,75% to be in synch with the Maidenlane recording. For this reason I kept as merged bonus only the first part of the show.

As usual I used a lot the infos taken from The Mick Taylor Complete Works Database by Nico Zentgraf: [www.nzentgraf.de]
