POST: Mick TAYLOR: Maidenlane FRANKENSTEIN's Versions Vol 03 - 1986.12.28 - NYC (Lone Star Cafe) - 2nd show (feat. K. R.)
The Maidenlane Recordings:
a Mick Taylor tribute
Long-time Mick Taylor fan Maidenlane taped a number of Mick’s gigs on the East Coast (mainly in New York City) between November 1986 - May 1993 to preserve his own memories. Around the same time Mick Taylor lived in NYC and thus did a lot of concerts there, with his own bands or as a guest artist with other great musicians.
In our first series we first published the concerts that had never been circulated in any form. By listening to the others we discovered that many of his alternative recordings were interesting too. In the second series we publish the “Maidenlane Alts” which will feature recordings that are either in better sound quality, more complete or sound differently from previous releases.
In this last series we present the result of mixes and merges which will be similar to the Frankenstein productions (of my FP-series).
Of course, we are very grateful to Maidenlane and I also would like to thank nzb for his help (his advice, judgements and expertise have been invaluable to me).

09 - Can't You Hear Me Knocking
Two versions from this show were already circulating.
In its initial form, Maidenlane’s recording was not so interesting because of an average sound quality and being a partial recording.
To improve it I decided to make different tests to merge it with different versions.
The best results came using nzb’s source for the 3 first tracks and the sounbdboard version for the 3 others.
This soundboard was heavily focused on the drums and the voices in both of the tracks where KR is playing.
They were too many gaps in ‘Put It Where You Want It’ to do a satisfying track from it.
‘Giddy Up’ is partial (Maidenlane recorded only the first 6 minutes).
In ‘Red House’, on Maidenlane’s recording, there was a gap from 0’43 until 0’57: I patched it with nzb’s version so you will hear a difference (with or without merging).
In ‘Key To The Highway’ the first seconds are coming from a mix from both sources (because of some little defaults).
All used sources were declicked, sound amplified and channels equilibrated and the speed synchronized by decelerating it from -1,7 to -2,2%.
Because some space was left, I decided to add the best mixed versions to complete the cd-r.
As usual I used a lot the infos taken from The Mick Taylor Complete Works Database by Nico Zentgraf: [
