I think it's a way to expose other/younger people to more of their music.
It's a low cost way to make a video for a song that wouldn't necessarily have had one made prior.
The videos look current, don't depict images of the band members, and show up in searches on streaming music services. Also probably a way to extend copyright.
I'm not saying I agree with it, I'm just trying to understand it.
