POST: THE NEW BARBARIANS - Vol 18 - 10 August 1979 - SHEPPERTON (rehearsals & more)
THE NEW BARBARIANS :
Early April - 11th August 1979
This series is dedicated to The New Barbarians who played two concerts in Canada, nineteen shows across the United States in April - May 1979 (and January 1980) and also supported Led Zeppelin at the Knebworth Festival 1979.
A big thank you to all the people who recorded these shows and who shared them and to my two accomplices nzb and Jaap (Stonesmuziekfan) who gave me the benefit of their versions of these shows and their advice and support ... and therefore without whom this project would not have been possible.
VOL 18

This one is for the completists!
I declicked the recording and deleted lots of noises …
Despite my efforts, these rehearsals were of bad quality and still are. So we decided to reward the completists who download this, warts and all, with a couple of bonus tracks… well, the first one is not exactly The New Barbarians but also not so far away from them - a predecessor so to say!
Bonus-section:
Bonus 1: April 1979: RON WOOD. Los Angeles. Shooting of a promotional video.
Line-up : RW (gtr, voc)/Pops Powell (bass)/Ian McLagan (keyb, bvoc)/Bobby Keys (sax)/Ringo Starr (dr)
09 - Buried Alive
I ripped the video (the recording is lossy).
Bonus 2: late May 1979: THE NEW BARBARIANS. Los Angeles, California, RCA Studios. Producer: probably KR.
Line-up: KR (gtr)/RW (gtr)/Zigaboo Modeliste (voc, dr)/Ian McLagan (keyb)/Bobby Keys (sax)/Stanley Clarke (bass)/Lowell George (slide gtr)
10 - Fingerprint Filin'
I received it from nzb. The original file was very deteriorated by lots of gaps. I spent a long time trying to restore it, using little patches. I did what I can but several ‘breaks’ remain.
As usual all the infos are taken from The Complete Works Of The Rolling Stones database by Nico Zentgraf: [
