Try an older version of utorrent that's ad-free, like 3.3.1.

Save that installer to a hard drive, so you always have it.

I concur! Otoh Transmission is total crap as soon as you ask it to manage more than 20 torrents.
I use an old Utorrent version and it easily handles my 3412 (yes 3412) torrents.
