Does anybody know anything about any further progress? It's been such a long time without any further announcements.

I don’t think this was created as an advertisement for a future product/release.

I think this is a promotion for the Mercury group/studio’s collection for prospective industry clients - people who would use these as clips etc. in other productions.

That didn't occur to me. It sure looked like a teaser for a never-before-released official video clips collection, completely restored and enhanced. Because nothing further has arisen from that spot for so long, you might be right, but it would be nice to find something conclusive so that dummies like me can cease looking out for further developments on the topic. The promo spot doesn't have any links to any further explanation.

Noticeable is the text mention early in the promo about restoration of over 50 promo videos. Sure looks like news of the long-awaited official release to me. I'm going to send an e-mail to Mercury, asking for clarification. Will post any reply in this thread.

Having said that, I really want to mention that the "after" for UOTN is still disappointingly grainy and not what I would have thought that today's technology could come up with.

Wow, ages and ages have gone by. Nothing's changed or been updated at [www.mercurystudios.co] since this thing started at the beginning of last year.

Does anybody even know how to find out anything more about it? Mercury Studios still hasn't responded to an e-mail I sent them.

Another year's gone by, still no developments .....

Maybe they'll release the videos on the occasions of anniversaries of singles, albums, etc - e.g. Undercover for the 40th anniversary end of 2023, It's Only Rock 'n Roll for the 50th anniversary in 2024, and so on.

Just realized they haven't put up I Go Wild, the grey and balding version. Would like to see that in HD.

That's probably the best suggestion so far. If it hasn't gone completely stale (whatever it is), then it's in a perpetual state of suspended animation.

The greatest challenge seems to have turned into not finding out when something will happen, but to find out exactly what it is - an eventual DVD/BD commercial release? Something on YouTube like all the lyric videos? Who knows?

They did something similar to U2 by putting some remastered HD videos on YouTube. Maybe they'll get around to doing the rest. Would be nice.

Now I'm quoting my own message! This thing at [www.mercurystudios.co] has remained stuck like glue with no further announcements or progress since it was posted by Mercury something like three years ago. It's turning into one of the mysteries of the universe.

What is it? Are we to expect a release of all those hits, remastered and in full HD, 4K, whatever? Just the smallest mention could help to solve the mystery, but mystery it remains. Does anybody know anything more about it?

I love all those promo videos. They need to do a restoration on all of them and bring em out on bluray. As well as restore Video Rewind plus add all the rest of the videos from the 60s until they stopped making promo videos.

BluRay disc is dead. LG now stopped manufacturing BR-Players - [www.CNET.com] . Only Sony, Panasonic and Magnetar still make BR-Players. Streaming is the future and probably there's no money to earn with the video restoration.


Btw: for those who still know the excellent Oppo Universal Disc Player UDP-203/205 (discontinued early 2018) and looking for a successor, have a look at the Magnetar players UDP800/900 - [Magnetar-Audio.com] .
