How would this be possible without degrading the quality back down ??

Even if this could somehow be accomplished,a standard DVD player can only output standard definition. Some can "scale" standard definition content by adding lines of resolution which are not actually there in the source .... line doubling etc. .

I know that NetFlix uses compression on their content but,it would seem that Blu-ray / BD-R or some kind of AVCHD format or HD ISO would make the most sense.
