I use iTunes almost exclusively. For me, it's the almost-perfect service. You could also give Amazon for MP3's, too. I am unsure as to other services. The new 'big' thing is 'streaming', of course

Utorrent is the KING, absolutely free...you need to get an older version from their website, for some reason the newer ones don't work on dimeadozen...by the way www.dimeadozen.org is the best site on the internet to find concerts and such...email me if you need any more help!

I use thepiratebay ... no code needed but you do need a bit client tool. I use VUSE which is free.

It depends; do you want to download torrents or something else?
For torrents you have the torrent clients mentioned above, if you want to download from other sources (youtube and so on), let me know.

I just use my web browser(s) to download music.

Almost always FLAC or WAV files ....... live content or studio outtakes.

If they are inside of a compressed, zipped .rar archive folder,I extract the files with 7-Zip , File Roller , or X-Archiver.

If it is a downloaded torrent file,I use uTorrent or Transmission.

In the case of commercially released material,I buy the physical album and then rip the tracks to my computer in lossless FLAC or WAV. ( NOT using Windows Media Player .... avoid that approach )

I have little to no use for mp3's. I am not going to pay for something in 2016 which is a downgrade to 1979 compact disc technology ..... regardless of whether or not anyone can notice the difference with their personal playback equipment set-up and / or hearing.

I have absolutely no use for iTunes or being roped into Apple's ecosystem. I don't see any good reason to do it. I have purchased less than 10 mp3's in my life. Probably around 6 or 7 individual tracks from Amazon almost 5 years ago. "Lucky Man" by Ronnie Wood was one.
