Yeah, it has been widely discussed here back in 2011 when those tapes were "discovered".
Interesting to hear that most of the Taylor parts has been finally removed in most of the final mixes.
I remember the Sweet Virginia mix was also different from the official one.

I was just thinking that maybe my hopkins tapes source is better than yours, because, while it does sound like a demo, the mix is very close to the final mud waterfall of Exile. If you would like me to send mine to you, pls contact me at the email address associated w/my account and I'll send them via weTransfer.
Because I had no idea they were converted from youtube.

ROLLING STONES
New Exile On Main Street Outtakes
Here are 6 new discovered Exile outtakes that were available on YouTube recently. The stream on YouTube is lossy but since there is no lossless version available so far these tracks are allowed here.
Many thanks to Munichhilton for recording the YouTube stream and posting it on IORR.
Lineage:
FIRST PART by Munichhilton:
- YouTube through an X-Fi Creative soundcard into soundforge pro 10.
- Pitch corrected and Eq'd.
- Saved as wav files (* = 256k mp3).
- Uploaded on IORR/Megaupload
SECOND PART by me:
- Downloaded from IORR/Megaupload
- Reworked with Adobe Audition:
- Volume/balance adjustment, right channel was lower than left one
- Manual removal of a lot of clicks, pops and - above all - microgaps (especially in the parts with very low volume). That was a lot of work!
- Converting to FLAC with FLAC Frontend

If you read the recent issue of MoJo featuring a Glyn Johns interview, you can hear on the Nicky Tape instrumentals the extra Mick Taylor guitar that Mick J. had Glyn take off at Sunset Sound LA, to Mick T's discontent.
