Original Live Stones Anthology download
Date: March 17, 2012 17:13

Please allow me to introduce myself...

I've been a lurker for some time on here now, and thought it was time to give something back. My name is Jonathan, and I'm the founder of "GetRhythmic Productions." I'm a huge Stones fan - especially of the original band - and believe that edition of the group remains vastly underappreciated as a live band.

Below is my effort to correct that impression. The links are to high bit-rate MP3's comprising the "Original Rolling Stones Live Anthology" - an effort to collect and present in the best possible sound the best fully live recordings of the Brian Jones-era Rolling Stones during their original touring years (1964-1967). It includes all the best concert soundboards (Paris L'Olympia '65-'67, Honolulu '66, St. Kilda '66, U.K. '65-'66) and radio/TV appearances from the era. Literally hundreds of hours were spent remastering the tracks using the best possible original sources.

You can find out more about the project at the website:

Hope you enjoy the tracks! Would appreciate any comments you might have...

If you have done alot of work in remastering to preserve best sound than why not do it in flac?

I'm sure he has preserved it in lossless format, but he prefers to sell those files. Well that's not bad, remember this is the "Buy/Sell/Trade" section and it is his own work!
Anyway it will be so great if he shares the flac files for free here!

Meanwhile thanks for sharing the mp3 files here with us Jonathan!

I've checked out some of the samples on the site and I have to say that while (to my ears) some tracks I cant tell alot of difference there are others where the remastering efforts have a very pleasing outcome..

Somehow they are not even high bitrate of mp3's as mentioned above from source. They are various bitrates.

Hmm, does not sound nice to me, if it`s the truth. I always view someone who is selling Stones boots here like a.....well how to say it and not to be rude,....a bad guy of sort.
On the other hand you spend so many hours trying to remaster something and than you destroy it by converting into MP3 !!!??? I would hate to see my remasters shared as mp3 (i have already seen it).

@#$%& THIS, i have just checked, this guy is charging 20 $ for a CD !!!!
This is really too much. I mean anything is too much, but 20 $, come on!

Look at this :
....."If you prefer the CD version, a donation of $20.00 is requested for each CD to cover costs of printing, supplies, production and shipping (international shipping additional - please email in advance for cost)."

STONES FANATICS DO NOT PAY !!!

In a while all this will be remastered by me and artwork done by Mr. D.

Appreciate the positive compliments regarding the Stones Anthology. A ton of hard work and effort went into upgrading this material from many disparate sources, and I'm glad to see a few of you think it paid off.

A few technical clarifications - the files were encoded using VBR (variable bit rate) which preserves the same quality as a high CBR (constant bit rate) encode while producing a smaller file. And yes, of course the masters are preserved as full-fidelity .wav files.

Next, I'm not 'selling' them here obviously. As you'll see if you go to [stonesliveanthology.com], CD versions are available for a $20 donation per CD, or $70 for the whole set (including shipping). It is not cheap to produce these. Supplies required include expensive printable black media, high-quality Neato insert and tray liner paper, new jewel cases, and expensive Epson print cartridges which are used up frequently. Moreover, burning the CDs, printing and assembling the artwork, and packaging them for shipping takes on average on hour of my time for each CD. Any proceeds from this help enable me to take on additional projects.

Captain Acid - so far I've gritted my teeth and refrained from commenting on your work - I hope you'll show the good manners to do so with mine from this point onwards.

What a laugh! So what would your complaint be ? That he doesn't upload MP3s of them, or sell them for 20 dollars ?

Well please do, comment on my work! I wonder what it is that you think is wrong with my work? Maybe i can improve, you never know.

By the way i did not make any comments on your remastering work, because i have never heard it. I can only say that artwork could have been better, that is what i see, especially the fonts that were used. I do not mean it`s very bad but not good enough to charge anybody for it!

The only problem i have is that you are asking money for something that is not yours in the first place. I do understand that you need to pay for all the things you have mentioned. But why don`t you do it like this ? :

You share your stuff for free like most of us here do, in best format that we got. And if there is still some lazy bastard that do not want to download and burn and print his artwork for himself, and wants the "finished product" delivered to him, than you can charge him as much as you want.I could understand that.

This way it makes you look like a bad guy that is interested in profit above all! And we all know there is no big money you can make from this. So at least you can have a good guy image.

Please, reconsider.
Captain

The ton of hard work compiling the best sources for this material was done by members of this board, people like watchit and midnrambler, who has shared it via torrents for free. All you had to do was downloading. I doubt you've come with any better sources than what has been torrented and compiled by others.

Concerning saying that "20 dollars is an OK price for sending out CDRs"....what BS. I can't count how many CDRs I've sent to people on this board, incl. high quality colour artwork; asking nothing in return. Never even occoured to me to charge money for it - or blanks. It would make me feel like a cheapy one

$20 is probably fair if they are silvers, not cdr. The would make it more of a "legit" label kind of thing to do. But label owners don't openly post in this forum, probably to avoid criticism.

GRP, you have shared your work, albeit mp3, but also all the liner notes, which was a cool thing to do. But you don't need me to tell you this forum is the wrong place to come trying to sell cdrs for donations. Too many of us have been around sharing for free for a long time. I'm sure there are others, though, that may have no other outlet than to find your website. And I hope not to sell an ugly debate over the best remasterer. It's mostly a matter of taste, anyway, and as Stones fans, we all deserve civility, IMHO.
