BBC Sessions?
Posted by: dph ()
Date: February 11, 2012 04:25

I have "Beat Beat Beat at the Beeb" which is a compilation of BBC sessions. Has anything better been released since 1994 when it came out? I see that VGP released "The Lost Treasure" in 1998 but haven't been able to track down a copy. Anyone have it to share? I also see that eBay sellers have recently listed something called "BBC Sessions" which has 57 tracks. Beat Beat Beat has 51. Anyone heard the new release and is it any good?

Beat Beat Beat at the Beeb is the best and most complete version around. BBC Sessions is a copy of Beat Beat Beat at the Beeb plus the 2 Pollwinners Concerts from 1964 + 1965. The Lost Treasure contains only 1 song (It's All Over Now) which is not on Beat Beat Beat at the Beeb.

Sorry, I don't have "Beat Beat Beat at the Beeb". I have those songs in nice quality on a no label 4 cdbox called "Radio & TV-Sessions Anthology 1963-1969" shown here:

So, obviously I cannot compare; but you may do so, as I have uploaded "Route 66" from the Camden Theatre show in 1964:

The Camden Theatre show has been re-broadcasted on BBC 6 some time ago.
I have included "Route 66" from that too, first from Deltics' upload and from myself recorded from BBC 6 streaming.
I think I might be able to borrow and share VGP's "The Lost Teasure",
but this may take a few weeks.

I have this box set too. Disc 1+2 of it are a copy of Beat Beat Beat At The Beep (with slightly different track order). Disc 3+4 are more tracks from various TV shows.

I was wondering if anything was better than Beat Beat Beat at the Beeb because it appears that Invasion Unlimited never discovered anything on their own. All of their releases are repackages of previous bootlegs.

I strongly suspect that Beat Beat Beat... is another repackage of TSP's "Get Satisfaction... If You Want It" plus various LPs. For example, the "Crackin' Up" LP sounds better than the equivalent tracks on Beat Beat Beat, except for its nasty background noise. Filter it out by removing the treble and you have Beat Beat Beat.

I was hoping that "The Lost Treasure" might be better sources, since VGP is one of the labels that actually comes up with new material.

Is Radio & TV-Sessions Anthology 1963-1969 available to download anywhere?
Or is it official? I've seen it advertised for sale at Jack Wolak's Rare Necessities, but I don't know if that makes it official or not.

I don't know. Too many versions of too many recordings show up... Not only this one, also a lot others. I'm losing the overwiew. And you know what? I don't care at all! I'm not downloading a new and "better" version of a show every 3 weeks anymore...

I'm new on this forum, and, sorry, i'm french. So you probably find a lot of errors in my english…
Last year I'll start to remastered (for myself) BBC Sessions, Tv Sessions, some Lives Bootlegs, Outtakes and Albums.
I'm looking in my own collection, and for internet downloads… very long work, you know it. I am listing more than 70 bootlegs, choose the best sound version (sometimes different than 50 years of dirty work, the best collection ever!) remastered it with Audacity and makes my own artwork job.
I think you don't have to download a new version in 3 weeks, you can keep mine for a long time !
Some errors can stay, if you fins them, please, tell me.

For downloads, and because it works on iTunes and iPod (sorry, Flac doesn't), i converted all in mp3 320 kbps.
I hope you enjoy this first link to : '1963>1965 BBC SESSIONS ®Remastered by Teague Raw'.

Hello,
I've got a lot of music in my computer, and the flac format is not easy to use on Macintosh and ipod. All my remastered songs are in .aiff, and burn on cds, but converted to leasning them on apple tv connected to my stereo. I think mp3-320 kbps is good to heard. The remastered work sounds better than basic loosless files. You can look the difference. If you are very interested, it's possible for me to takes the cd version to .flac.
I'm pleased that my artwork pleased you. Thanks

Hi teagueraw,

These are nice collections and great artworks. Thank you so much for sharing your work here.

For some reason there seems to be a problem with files created on Mac and extracting them on Winrar. When I extracted both, they were both corrupt.

Did you use the command-line zip utility in the MAC OS X to check files for correctness?

Or can you create a tar.gz file on Mac that winrar can extract.

As it is posted winrar can not extract these files without many, many errors. Or is there another app that can extract these besides winrar?

Thank you again for all your work and posting them here.

Re: BBC Sessions?
Posted by: JimmyShelter ()

I had similar problems with WinRAR.
I extracted them with WinZip by using 'extract to...' and 'extract full archive'.

But the best bet is probably 7-Zip - here - which extracted all files with no errors.
