"Charlie and the Donkey"The title is directly related to one of the best live albums of all time. We talk about the album of the Rolling Stones, "Get yer ya ya's out" released in 1970.
This painting is a portrait of the original album cover, a photo of David Bailey where it sees a donkey loaded drum, bass and guitar, along with Charlie Watts jumping of joy in the midst of a road. This picture is inspired by "Visions of Johanna", a song by Bob Dylan referred to a donkey.
In the painting I turned a few degrees to Charlie, to give a different perspective to the original photo. And I changed the blue color of the margin to blood red.
Charlie Watts draw was not easy, I had to appeal to an ancient technique used by the masters "El Greco" and Leonardo da Vinci called "foreshortening". Which gives a front perspective view of Fig intense making it seem almost real.
The watercolors have played a great role in the composition of the background landscape.
And the text fulfills its role as album art.
Enjoy it.
