If you record directly while recording, I am not sure what the rate is?
On BBC I-Player, it plays at 128kbps - to record at that rate (for me) is a bit messy - I need 2 computers connected...
...there are probably better ways!!
To record easily (again from my perspective), the best I can get now is 96kbps - by using recording software like Hi-Download
I usually record at 48kbps for speech programmes

Any advice on better methods/approach are always appreciated cool smiley
Cheers

When you save the recorded audiostream in mp3 format the signal gets even more compressed. So it's best to save the audio as WAV.

I downloaded this as a 96kbps WMA file - I don't get a choice - and then converted to MP3 as (i am guessing) most people seem to prefer this (compressed) format
If I recorded PC to PC then I would record as WAV - but it would still be from a 128 kbps broadcast

A WAV recording from a 128 kbps is still better then saving the same recording as mp3 cause it preserves the quality of the original signal. Saving as mp3 adds more compression to a file thats is allready lossy.

Zagalo,

Thanks so much for ths show!

The piano on "Bad Penny Blues" is just booming with sound and overall it's a wonderful performance of the song.

Thanks again,
Steve
