How to improve audio ?

G'day all (yeah, I'm from Australia). Recently I got a DVD from one of our best providers in this forum. A good one too. One problem. The audio is rather scratchy, like it needs more bass to tone down all the somewhat screeching crowd noise. It came in ready-to-burn DVD format (as usual, the bunch of VOB, etc. files). Does anybody know how to change the audio qualities in this kind of format, like changing audio equalizer settings to suit personal preferences?

To get the best results you would need to split the VOB files into separate audio and video files. Once you have done that you can play around with the audio until you're happy with it.

Then you would have to re-multiplex the audio and video together, and possibly re-author the DVD.

Hmmm, thanks. Looks interesting. What do you suggest I use to do this?

If I were doing it, I would use Pegasus TmpGenc Express 4 to convert and split the Vob files. Then I would use Cool Edit 2000 (or Pro) to adjust the sound. Finally I would use Pegasus TmpGenc to re-multiplax the sound and video files.

Bear in mind that they are just my personal choice of software to use. There are many others out there that will do it and probably some free ones too.

Hmmm, thanks guys. Maybe a bit involved for a one-off, for me at least. Of course I can always mess around with the bass and treble dials on my amp, but it would be nice if there was a relatively simple way to embed preferred audio qualities in the burn. Lots of forum members might be interested to read comments on this issue, because I think it would come up often enough, so keep the suggestions going for eveybody's interest. thumbs up
