You Can't Always Get What You Want-stereo version of 4:50 b-side?

I know that YCAGWYW is shorter (4:50) and was in mono as the B-side to HTW, but is there a stereo version of this shorter edit? Not only was this edit minus the choral opening but it is also missing one of the verses.

i've heard that decca released a stereo version of the single edit on a 4lp collection in the early 80's called "The Rest of the Best"

The stereo version is o the Big Hits(2nd disc) of Sister Morphines "Could You walk On Water" if I'm not mistaken.

Yes, that is absolutely correct, the complete set is available as a (very naughty) torrent, but I'm afraid you'll have to look for it yourself!

THE ROLLING STONES - THE REST OF THE BEST - Single Track and Rarities from the Decca Period
(German Decca 4 LP Box - 6.30125)

You Can't Always Get What You Want #
single B-side of "Honky Tonk Women" - rare single version - not identical with version of the same title on "Let it bleed"
recorded at Olympic Studios/London in Summer 1968
featuring the "London Bach Choir" (under the direction of Jack Nitzsche)
and Al kooper on Piano and Organ

All Tracks Mono except those marked with # appear in true Stereo.

The stereo edit version from 4;53 is also stereo on The Singles Collection The London Years on the London Label 820-907-2 in the 12" box , inlay says 5;11 but my PC/dvd/cd player says 4;53 .

And yes , it is stereo

And now I listen to that cd 3 , Memo From Turner is also stereo .

on my copy it is mono...
also, there are stereo versions on some boots that are missing the choral into, but these are over 6 minutes long and are not the same edit as found on the flip side of HTW....

The US ABKCO 1218-2 "Singles Collection - The London Years" 3-CD from 1989 has the stereo version - I´m listening right now!
(It played 4.50...)

Then both versions in the 12" box have the true stereo version .

I have both the '89 and '02 versions of "The Singles Collection".
The '89 version is in stereo but the '02 version is mono!
Flipping the record over, does anyone know if the mono "Honky Tonk Women" has ever had a CD release? All of the versions I have are in stereo.

The only official CD mono release of Honky Tonk Women (that I know of) is on the same 1989 3-CD box; although the cowbell intro is in "stereo", i.e. slightly to one channel.
Maybe this should be a new tread?

You're quite right, the '89 version is in mono. I thought I'd checked it out already. No need for a new thread!
Although the version on the '02 issue is in stereo!
Go figure!

Strange , the cowbell moves from the right to the middle .

To go back to the original thread, listening again to YCAGWYW from the '89 release, it seems to start in mono and then at thirty seconds in it suddenly spreads out into stereo!
Anybody else notice this?
Curiouser and curiouser....

Yep and the sounds has a little bit more power also .

It does go to wider stereo indeed - hadn´t noticed before!

There are some other interesting things about this 1989 3-CD box:
* The intro to Heart Of Stone is in (hissy) stereo, the rest is in mono
* Time Is On My Side is not the single version, but the version with guitar intro
* The Under Assistant... is the extended alternate mix (w/louder harmonica) and extra lyrics at the end ("I break my ass everyday...). Not available anywhere else!?
* The long (3.45) Paint It Black had it´s first release (I think)
* Street Fighting Man is the LP version, in mono
* The mono mix of No Expectations is completely unique - the slide guitar is too low!
* All tracks on the first two CDs are in mono, except: Stupid Girl, Lady Jane and tracks 17-20 on CD 2.
Maybe there´s more that I haven´t noticed...

Now we are into new thread territory!
I'll copy this thread onto "Tell Me" to see if anybody else has spotted any more "anomalies"

my version of the box set must be the 2002 version. YCAGWYW is completely mono.
as is Heart of Stone. Time Is On My Side is the organ intro version. Street Fighting Man is the original mono 45 version (which was issued in error).
