POST: Surrey Rehearsal 1968
Posted by: Cafaro ()
Date: July 1, 2009 23:29

Hello all,
I am posting the infamous Surrey Rehersals. The story is that these are the Beggar's Banquest rehersals. Check on Nico's site for more details.

Sound quality is sort of rough as are some of the performances but great guitar work by KR and BW, On drums, Chawlie Watts eeeehhhh!

I do not know the speed, source, who recorded it, why they recorded it, how they recorded it, what time they recorded it, what was for lunch when it was recorded, why is it that erik_snow chose to be born today, what color the hash was that they were smoking, etc.... I do know it's MP3.

In other words, if you don't like it, don't download it and don;t let your kids listen to it!

I do apologize if this has been posted ad nauseum. I am in my 67-71 phase now.

the first version posted here is the BEST version I have ever heard. No tape hiss, excellent stereo separation, although it is an edited version, not as long as the 2 others which follow- which is the same performance to my ears, just a bit longer, more tape hiss, same old same old....

The first "Still A Fool" is the edit from Sister Morphine's Beggars Outtakes, isnt it? Same length and sounds like it.

Still a Fool ain't from Redlands, myth nonsense, tis from Olympic Sound Studios, the slide is definitely Brian Jones.

One of the best Rolling Stones tracks around imo!

Hi Jmarko,
Is your old link still working? it seems I fail to download the file after 30%. I prefer the original in one big grab in place of the more than 20 downloads so kindly offered here.
Best regards,
Alex.
