Finally dared to click the Play arrow! Must say that it is a lot better (!) than I expected - his voice is still not my cup of tea, but this version rocks, and I quite like the slide guitar and sax solos. And the girls of course!

The irrepressible Nigel Dick just posted this video montage he made over the holiday of the music videos he's produced on his Facebook page. He offered a jelly donut to anyone who could name all the artists in the video. He said he left out some artists like Tears For Fears and Julian Cope as he didn't have the videos in a digital format. Have fun.

Monkey Man, that monkey that went to the rescue of the electrocuted monkey

See video at the link, I'm sure a lot have heard about this.

This isn't off-topic really because I read the story and see the video and for some reason, I think of the song.

Quote

NEW DELHI—Onlookers at a train station in northern India watched in awe as a monkey came to the rescue of an injured friend — resuscitating another monkey that had been electrocuted and knocked unconscious.

The injured monkey had fallen between the tracks, apparently after touching high-tension wires at the train station in Kanpur in northern India and was lying on its back between tracks, rigid and apparently lifeless.

His companion came to the rescue and was captured on camera lifting the friend’s motionless body up and then shaking it.

The camera cuts to the crowds of people on the regular platform watching it all in wonder.

The monkey then starts teething his friend’s neck and scalp. The video cuts, and it next seen flipping the still seemingly dead friend into a water-filled ditch between the sets of tracks, lifting it out and dropping it back in several times.

At last some signs of life appear, as the injured monkey’s eyes open while it’s undergoing this immersion. That, according to witnesses, occurred about 20 minutes after the initial electrocution.

Looks like the injured monkey "got what he needed".

Springsteen did "Double Shot", some youtube videos of him doing it in fact with the original artists, the Swinging Medallions. It's really quite a song with a great hook.

Peace

Might StorK:

THanks for answering. Somehow Status Quo is singing their version with lyrics. Maybe they are just ad libbed.

Red River Rock and some other song I have heard really seem to have a basic riff like "When the Saints go marching in".

The Status Quo song does not start until about a minute into the video.

David Byrne performs "Fantastic Man" with the Atomic Bomb Band.

I'd rather see him get back together with the rest of Talking Heads, they were so good.

The song they are doing is:

Red River Valley

Lyrics:

From this valley they say you are leaving
We shall miss your bright eyes and sweet smile
For you take with you all of the sunshine
That has brightened our pathway a while
Then come sit by my side if you love me
Do not hasten to bid me adieu
Just remember the Red River Valley
And the cowboy that's loved you so true
For a long time, my darlin', I've waited
For the sweet words you never would say
Now at last all my fond hopes have vanished
For they say that you're going away
Then come sit by my side if you love me
Do not hasten to bid me adieu
Just remember the Red River Valley
And the cowboy that's loved you so true
