Miriam Makeba a couple of weeks ago & now Odetta, a pair of incredible women who fought the injustices of their era not with guns but with their voices. They won.

A few years back when I saw the Rhythm Kings at Town Hall, they brought her out for one song. She was great.

I was lucky to have seen Odetta perform at McCabe's, a music store in Santa Monica, Calif., that also presents live performances. I think it was in 2005. Her show that night was powerful. Her voice will be missed.
