Sorry if this topic has been posted before:

Who do you think is the best Dutch Stones coverband you have seen the last few years, and why?

Never seen any good Stones coverband at all. Micks singing is impossible to imitate.

I thought Flip The Switch was fairly good.

There was that Spanish Rolling Stones cover band I saw in Barcelona years ago... Smoking Stones? The singer gave beautiful impression of the late 60's/early 70's Jagger...

Yep, saw Flip the Switch twice and they sounded great!
All the others I normally can't stand to watch though.

Cheers,

I used to collect Stones coverband mp3's. Thing is, and I can say this and sleep well, 99.9% of Stones tribute bands are very, very goofy. I mean, come on, no noe, myself included, can take any of it seriously. It has about as much musical integrity as an Elvis impersonator. Still, it's a #$%&load of fun! Right? >grinning smiley<

I can't think of any Dutch ones, I've seen my share of Canadian and American ones though. Some great, some unintentionally hilarious!

I agree. I also saw them 2006 in Barcelona, when the Stones-Shows were cancelled. They were brilliant, rather "back to the roots".

By the way does anybody know about the Coverbands, which are playing on the Keith Richards Birthday Bash? Under Cover? X-Pensive Barbarians ?Are they worth going there?

Why narrow it down. Best Stones cover band must be The Counterfeit Stones.

DIRTY WORK (Rotterdam)

Keef'look-a-like on guitar

Yes, Flip The Switch is a good choice. And the guitar player is a much-appreciated debater when it comes to Stones-related subjects.

That;s the thing I always hate and find a bit pathetic about cover/tributebads, people who act/dress a like. Come on, grow up!

That's where the whole ridiculous 'Elvis Impersonation' somes in.
The Blushing Brides were different. They wore stlyish stuff that was evocative of the bands current look for the time without looking like well-witch drag queens.

Mathijs, when is the come back tour? Perhaps the time to make a war horses set list of your old list and stick into that? and I guess also the guitarists should a bit "update" their style... watching SHINE A LIGHT will give good lesson... >grinning smiley<

Truely, I'd like to hear your band one day, but I guess it is not possible.

I saw the Flippies several times, best coverband I ever saw.
A pity that they quit playing a few years ago.
Time for a reunion....?

Doing a tribute band has merit and honor. But the guys that try to be the Stones..it is real embarrassing for me to watch.

Sunday 14 december in Holland Schiedam: Keith's Birthday Bash

Celebration of Keith's 65th birthday with Rolling Stones Tribute band Undercover and Keith Richards tribute band The X-Pensive Barbarians. Make sure to check out this party if you're in the neighbourhood.

Rolling Stones Tribute band UnderCover plays Shine A Light:

X-pensive Barbarians are a nice bunch. Certainly not dragqueens/lookalikes.

Boy, would've liked to see Flip the Switch once!

Objective debater and funny too.

Best cover band I've ever seen. I'd be more than happy if they'd get together again.

Matthijs, you are probably in some band anyway? Any Gigs soon?

Yeah, there's a band, no gigs soon. First recording an album, then conquering the world in 80 days.

If there would be a reunion of all the old fans maybe we could play, but it wouldn't be something we will instigate at this moment in time.

North Holland? I was just looking at some info on the web because I'm flying into Amsterdam on Wednesday to start a 2 week Euro tour and have been trying to figure out just exactly what it is - Holland or The Netherlands?

From what I can tell, saying Holland is incorrect. It's North or South. That's like those whiners in CT crying about the Hartford show.

North Holland, South Holland. I think a lot of people just say Holland. Or The Netherlands. North Vietnam, South Veitnam - whatever - Vietnam.

With all do respect, coverbands are fun at stones fan club days and especially after a few beers, but not more than that...
Of course there are excellent musicians among them... see "Flip The Switch" and "Tumblin' Dice" (best Keith I've ever seen)
