OT: Could the "economy crisis" trigger another rebirth of R&R?

It has been a while since Rock and Roll has gotten mad at something. May be Grunge was the last time rock seems to be significant as a voice against the established order. With the so called "economy crisis" showing its effects (unemployment rates going up everywhere in the industrialized nations, the # of poor people increasing) what will be left for a poor boy to do except playing in a rock and roll band?
Rock and Roll,
Mops

I thought the same thing...although I thought Heavy Metal would make a mainstream comeback...since the future isn't looking so bright for the next 2-5 years at least...Black Sabbath was born in Brimingham when their future in that city looked pretty bleak.

the 80's metal explosion grew out of the frustration with the economic situation in the late 70's and early 80's before Reganomics made any difference (although that difference was only to a portion of soceity.)

Heavy Metal/Hard Rock is pure escapism...what better to escape from that hard times faced with only more hard times on the horizon?

In the UK we tend to get more "fun" music when times are hard, just as we did with Slade, Gary Glitter & The Sweet in the early 70s.

There isn't the established "apparatus", if you will, anymore, for any ONE Music Sound to take hold, or flourish for a long time as before.

The internet and other assorted, "personal", music listening devices, have turned Music into an egocentric pursuit. People can go ANYWHERE to get ANY TYPE of Music they want to listen to, ANYTIME. We can go to online communities, viscerally, and they will fulfill ANYTHING we desire and we want for Music.

For example, there are no "release dates", to center our interest or hopes in, unless it's notice posted on blogs, etc., and posted outside of an established hierarchy.

There is no possibility of any ONE type of Music Sound to develope, or no "need" to.

We can get what we want and if we don't like it, we can create it ourselves. As much as we karped about "fixed" music charts, and the domination of what's out there, by Music Companies, they had the framework, whereby something
"international" or global music trend could happen.

Think about what we can do here...and This is why we are here, in this forum. Go to another room, we can download videos, music, pictures, etc., of anything relating to The Rolling Stones.

Basically, this music group exists, in the form of a shadow, that we can access at our Will...or turn off and replace with another.

So much for progress, when we would spend hours, sometimes trolling music stores and stand at magazine racks, daydreaming about our favorite music group. Now they are in front of us, at the flick of a chrome switch !

Not very warm and fuzzy, but it sooths our internal need for EVERYTHING, Rolling Stones.

Great topic rollmops!
Ross Phazor is doing their best to bring some hope and fun in these tough times.
Our music isn't angry or politically motivated but we do our best to capture the spirit of classic rock with catchy melodies and hooks and a nice drum beat.
Give a listen and we hope you like it!
